Position Highlights |
The University of Arizona (UA) Physics Department invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Practice starting in Spring or Fall 2026. The expected teaching load is two to three courses per semester (with a maximum of five per year), and salary will be commensurate with experience. We are looking for candidates who can motivate and inspire students using active learning and evidence-based approaches in the classroom. While teaching introductory physics will be the primary focus, the ability to teach upper-division courses in a variety of fields will be considered an advantage. The department takes pride in its collaborative teaching innovations, including grad discussion leaders, undergrad preceptors, and a dedicated space for workshop-style service courses. We seek candidates who would support and expand these approaches. All of our instructors, regardless of tenure-eligible status, have full participation in faculty meetings and in department life. Application reviews will begin on Sept. 15, 2025. Our intent is to hire for a start date in January 2026 (spring semester), but we are open to delaying the start to August 2026 (fall semester) depending on the progress of the search. This career-track appointment is not eligible for tenure. Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; sick leave and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; retirement plans; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more! The University of Arizona has been recognized for our innovative work-life programs. For more information about working at the University of Arizona and relocations services, please click here. |
