Boart Longyear is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team in Salt Lake City, Utah to support US Drilling Services. This pivotal role will lead employee relations for the region, oversee the onboarding processes, and drive the maintenance of our HCM (Oracle) system. The HR Generalist will work closely with employees and leadership to provide a seamless HR experience, resolve employee concerns, and ensure compliance with company policies and regional regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations



  • Serves as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues as they pertain to both field and professional-level employees, providing guidance on conflict resolution, performance concerns, and company policies and partnering with leadership to drive resolutions.
  • Conducts thorough and accurate investigations into employee complaints and issues, ensuring fair and objective resolutions.
  • Maintains a proactive approach in identifying and addressing employee relations trends to foster a positive work environment.
  • Partners with management to implement strategies for improving employee morale, engagement, and retention.


Onboarding & Offboarding



  • Oversees the administrative team and the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience
  • Collaborates with hiring mangers to ensure that all onboarding tasks are completed accurately and efficiently
  • Coordinates the offboarding procedures for departing employees, including driving the completion of exit interviews
  • Ensures the maintenance of accurate records for all new employees and separations


HCM System Management



  • Oversees and maintains the company's HCM system (Oracle), ensuring employee data is entered and updated accurately
  • Generates and analyzes HR reports from the HCM system to support decision-making and track HR metrics
  • Provides training and support to HR team members and employees regarding HCM system processes


HR Administrative Functions



  • Ensures accurate and up-to-date employee records are maintained in compliance with legal and company policies
  • Regularly audits and reviews employee records for accuracy and compliance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Assists with HR policy development, communication, and implementation across the organization


Employee Engagement & Support



  • Supports initiatives to improve employee engagement and culture
  • Acts as a resource for employees on HR-related issues, providing guidance and resources as needed
  • Works closely with HR manager to ensure alignment with company objectives and supporting overall HR strategy
  • Partners to support recruiting activities as needed


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • SHRM-CP certification or equivalent preferred
  • 4+ years of experience, preferably in an HR Generalist role with a focus on employee relations
  • Experience working with Oracle and/or Dayforce or similar HRIS systems
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations best practices, compliance, and legal requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive employee matters with professionalism
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven experience conducting investigations and resolving complex employee relations matters
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with various teams
  • Ability to travel up to 25-30% of the time
