North Wind Site Services is focused on providing engineering, program management, environmental remediation services including investigation and characterization, environmental restoration, unexploded ordnance/military munitions response (MMRP), regulatory public involvement services, environmental compliance, logistics, and records and facility management.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Diagnoses and solves software, hardware, network and systems problems and provides technical and help-desk type support and advice to over 100 geographically separated users at the 611th Civil Engineer Squadron (CES) at JB Elmendorf Richardson (JBER) and remote locations throughout Alaska. Other duties include the imaging of hardware, software, and networking for up to 100 users on as-needed basis, serving as Squadron Level cyber security liaison, maintaining and updating software licenses, supporting the 611th CES Automated Civil Engineer System (ACES) maintenance and execution, and supporting hardware and software requirements for their GEOBASE/GIS system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manage 611th CES computer inventory and order new equipment when needed.
  • Support 611th CES leadership including commander, deputy BCE, and multiple flight chiefs and support staff with as needed hardware, software, network, and systems issues.
  • Manage File server, Patch regularly.
  • Provide IT support/assistance to over 100 users geographically separated.
  • Image computers
  • Manage Automated Civil Engineer System (ACES) for 611th CES.
  • Manage AutoCAD license server for Geobase
  • Cyber security liaison support
  • Assisting Geobase department when necessary
  • Respond to inquiries from organizations' computer users and answer questions or resolve problems.
  • Provide help-desk type support by responding to computer issues and assisting with resolution of hardware and software issues.
  • Assist users by helping create requests/trouble tickets for on-base IT support when necessary.
  • Install, modify, clean and repair computer hardware and software issues.
  • Assist with tasks such as mapping printers and devices to individual users' computer systems.
  • Assist with installing necessary software applications and updates to users' computers.
  • Assist new users by setting up their computers and/or laptops and ensuring systems are loaded with property software and anti-virus applications.
  • Oversee daily performance of company's computer systems and evaluate software applications.
  • Work independently and with others to complete project assignments.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely in speech and writing.
  • Facilitates communication across the organization and effectively interfaces with leadership, customer, contractor, and site personnel on a daily basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:


  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience is required.

Skills and Abilities:


  • Ability to interact and support squadron senior leadership including commander, deputy BCE, and multiple flight chiefs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with others (colleagues and clients) to ensure that customer requests and needs are met. Must acknowledge and clarify customer inquiries, requests, or complaints to ensure that needs are identified, documented and addressed.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Demonstrates effective use of MS Office applications, databases, systems, software, hardware, networks, tools and other resources to reflect understanding and clear insights of processes and procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to and maintain a safety conscious work environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate, conduct, and conform to a set of values and accepted standards, such as honesty, integrity, reliability, and accountability.
  • Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task, and perform work accurately and thoroughly.

Special Requirements:


  • Must be able to obtain CompTIA Security Plus certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug testing.
  • Must have a valid driver license.
  • Ability to pass U.S. Government employment background check and acquire U.S. Government Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credential card.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Associates degree.
  • Air Force and/or DOD experience.
  • Networking and IT certification.
  • Existing background check - National Agency Check.
  • Ability to travel up to once every two (2) months is preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position is a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be sitting for long periods of time, but will also be required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is often required to use hands or fingers to handle, feel, type and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position is in a general office setting with low to moderate noise.
