Job Overview
Description:
We're looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Software Engineer to help strengthen and evolve our engineering capabilities. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable enterprise-level web applications that align with business objectives.
You will collaborate closely with Business Analysts and cross-functional teams to identify enhancement opportunities, deliver robust technical solutions, and address application issues. A key part of the responsibilities will be ensuring data integrity, system reliability and alignment with business requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions using JavaScript (ES6+) and Node.js
  • Build, test, and deploy applications using modern frameworks such as Express, React, Vue, or Angular
  • Develop and maintain automated tests using frameworks like Playwright, Cypress, Jasmine, or Protractor
  • Contribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines to support frequent, reliable releases
  • Integrate and test RESTful APIs and ensure high-quality coverage across services
  • Collaborate with DevOps and QA to improve deployment, monitoring, and reliability
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning

Requirements
  • 3+ years experience with JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS preferred
  • 2+ years experience with automated testing (Playwright, Cypress, Jasmine, etc.) preferred
  • 1+ year experience with Node.js preferred
  • 1+ year experience with CI/CD pipeline design or implementation preferred
  • 1+ year experience consuming or testing REST APIs preferred
  • 1+ year working with at least one modern application framework: Express, React, Angular, or Vue preferred
  • Experience in UI/UX best practices, 508 compliance
  • Experience with databases, and SQL
  • Ability to clearly define and document products and application changes based on requests and updates
  • Ability to work with multiple teams and staff at all levels of experience and seniority
  • Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
Desired Skills
  • 1+ year experience with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code tooling preferred
  • 1+ year experience deploying or managing infrastructure on AWS or Azure preferred
  • 1+year experience with Atlassian Suite such as Confluence, Jira, and Bitbucket
  • Mobile development preferred
  • Ability to turn business requirements into technical requirements and create a work plan and schedule
  • Experience working with Agile development and DevOps processes
  • Team leadership skills and experience
Citizenship or Work Authorization Required:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Federal Government Position of Trust
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Compensation for roles at Synergy varies depending on a wide variety of factors including but not limited to the requirements of the role; education and certifications; knowledge, training, skills and abilities; level of experience; geographic location; and alignment with market data, law, and other business and organizational needs. As required by local law, the posted pay range represents the lowest to the highest pay that Synergy believes in good faith it might pay for this particular job, depending on the circumstances. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00.

Essential Job Function Physical Requirements: The physical requirements of this position are critical in evaluating the qualifications and abilities of an applicant or employee.
