Overview
The Lead Therapist actively assists the Director in leading and supporting positive outcomes of various clinical objectives for both clinical staff and patients.
Responsibilities
Assists Director or Clinical Manager with selection, orientation, and supervision of program's clinical staff
- Clinical supervision is limited to therapists and assistants of like discipline and rehabilitation specialists in accordance with local requirements and/or discipline- specific state practice acts
- Provides professional support to therapists as needed and maintains on-going communication with the clinical staff to facilitate participation in continuing education, conferences, and assistance in developing and achieving professional short- and long-range goals
- May lead supervisory visits for clinical staff
- Supports the company's performance management process for field clinical staff through providing ongoing and relevant clinical feedback and recommendations to support ongoing training and development of clinical staff
- Participates in planning and presenting development and training programs for clinical staff to facilitate keeping therapists current on changes in health care procedures, professional standards, and government regulations
- Assists with ensuring staff compliance with applicable standards and regulations related to certification, licensure, and competency education
- Promotes a positive and accurate understanding of program expectations, standards, plans, and concerns between therapists and management
- Interfaces effectively with referral sources and community resources. Active in local and national professional organizations and activities by reading professional publications, staying current on new developments, or techniques, and promoting the company/program in the marketplace
- Adheres to standards of the Company's Code of Conduct, policies, HIPAA and Corporate Compliance programs and appropriate professional practice standards and applicable state/federal laws
- Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to: Serving on professional committees such as Advisory Committee or Clinical Record Review/Utilization Review Committee, remaining available for consultation with any third-party representatives, and providing back-up support to assure operational needs are met
Qualifications
- Graduate degree from an accredited:
- Physical Therapy Program (minimum of a bachelor's degree from an institution approved by the American Physical Therapy Association, the Committee on Allied Health Education, and Accreditation of the American Physical Therapy Association), or
- Occupational Therapy Program (minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited jointly by the Commission on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association, and the American Occupational Therapy association, or is eligible for the National Registration Examination of the Occupational Therapy Association), or
- Master's Degree Program in Speech and Language Pathology (Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech/Language Pathology or audiology granted by the American Speech and Hearing Association, or meets the educational requirements for certification and is in the process of meeting the required supervised experience for a certificate), or
- Therapeutic Recreation Therapy Program (bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, NTRS certification), or
- Social Work Program (master's degree in social work and practicing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or equivalent per state requirements), or
- Neuropsychologist Program, (PhD or PsyD from accredited program or in an accredited training program in Neuropsychology and practicing as a Clinical Neuropsychologist) and
- meets any additional qualifications as stated in state home care regulations in the state(s) of practice
- Experience with treatment of neuro-clients
- Minimum of one year involvement with treating patients with the company preferred or comparable experience
- Maintains a professional license/certification as required by the state in which they practice
- Certification of Brain Injury Specialist (American Academy for the Certification of Brain Injury Specialists) preferred
- Current CPR certification
- Strong communication, supervisory and leadership skills, with the ability to maintain a flexible schedule
