HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO OUR TEAM:

As a Battery Design Engineer, you will serve as the subject matter expert for advanced SolidWorks modeling and simulation, driving the design and optimization of our next-generation battery packs. You will establish and lead our digital twin program, building a foundational model library that accelerates design cycles and improves accuracy in predicting thermal, mechanical, and performance behavior. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between digital designs and real-world prototypes, ensuring safety, manufacturability, and system reliability. In this highly collaborative role, you will partner with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teammates to deliver innovative, high-performance solutions that keep Ascentek at the forefront of energy storage technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of a digital twin program to simulate battery performance, mechanical stress, thermal management, and potential failure modes
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive model library for thermal, electrical, and mechanical properties of battery components and materials
  • Utilize simulation results to provide data-driven design recommendations to the engineering team
  • Design battery pack components and assemblies using SolidWorks, ensuring manufacturability and assembly fit
  • Apply advanced Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) techniques and perform tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Collaborate with R&D to transition digital models into physical prototypes, ensuring alignment between design intent and hardware performance
  • Contribute to the creation and execution of test plans to validate simulation models against prototype data
  • Incorporate design for manufacturability principles into all battery system designs
  • Design injection molded parts and associated tooling
  • Design sheet metal parts and components for progressive stamping processes
  • Manage the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process for battery designs
  • Partner cross-functionally to troubleshoot issues and recommend design changes that improve product safety and performance
  • Maintain awareness of industry standards and apply best practices in battery system safety and reliability

Education:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree with strong emphasis in design

Experience and/or Training:

  • 5+ years in mechanical design or simulation, preferably with battery systems, electronics packaging, or complex electromechanical products
  • Demonstrated proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software for complex 3-D modeling
  • Hands-on experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation)
  • Proven application of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Experience in transitioning designs from digital models to validated prototypes
  • Familiarity with thermal management techniques and electrical property considerations in battery systems

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple high-impact projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative and adaptable team player with a solutions-oriented mindset

    Experience and/or Training:

    • SolidWorks certification a plus
    • Direct experience developing digital twin programs for complex systems
    • Knowledge of battery safety standards (UL, IEC, UN 38.3)
    • Background in high-reliability industries such as automotive, aerospace, or grid storage

    Physical, Mental, Environmental Demands:

    • Office and lab-based role with hands-on work involving electronic hardware and test equipment
    • Frequent sitting, walking, and computer use; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
    • Ability to concentrate on complex tasks for extended periods
