Job Description

This is a part time position at 74% FTE and would be responsible for the following:

  • Cleaning, repairing, and operating UV/SGM reactors, both laboratory, larger, and field scale, as well as pumps.
  • Producing SGM on a daily basis (sol-gel process, NaOH soaking, and firing it), also assisting with boron nitride addition to the Ti)2-SGM in collaboration with Rice University.
  • Bi-weekly meetings with GeoSyntec and Rice University to discuss experimental progress, analysis and results, and discuss changes to plans moving forward for a go/no-go decision, as well as continued communication with the project team via email in between meetings.
  • Preparation of project documentation for ESTCP such as SOPs, laboratory test plans, and reports.
  • Preparation and shipping of samples to an external laboratory for analysis.
  • Preparation of samples for in house LC and IC analysis.
  • Data analysis and review, and amending future experiments to improve PFAS degradation kinetics.
  • Will be going to site for another field demo sometime after October to operate and troubleshoot the field scale reactor for NAS Oceana, as well as other future site demos.
  • Other tasks: Attending conferences and presenting research findings and working on publications and thesis. Will also be learning how to operate the QToF and IC hopefully in the near future to run data analysis.
Minimum Qualifications

The minimum qualifications are a MSci or pending Msci in Civil Engineering

Anticipated Hiring Range

$38.50 per hour.
