The Injury Prevention and Wellness Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing employee well-being and productivity by promoting physical fitness and healthy habits as well as reducing the risk of injuries among JAX employees specifically at our JAX Sacramento, CA, and Gainesville, Florida populations.

The Injury Prevention and Wellness Specialist is a key member of the LiveWell wellness team within the Total Rewards team for Sacramento and Gainesville employees.

This role is located onsite at our Sacramento location

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Minimizes the risk of ergonomic injury to employees through awareness, education, and early intervention. Proactively evaluates ergonomic aspects of work performed through regular workspace visits; trains employees on proper body mechanics, ergonomic techniques, and workplace setup.
  • Uses data to determine root causes of injury to develop conditioning exercises to increase physical fitness, strength, endurance, and flexibility.
  • Leads conditioning program for all Animal Care Trainees, In Vivo Technicians, Operations Technicians, and others who may benefit from participating in the program.
  • May provide triage and first-aid to employees who have incurred a workplace injury.
  • Works collaboratively with Environmental Health and Safety Services on corrective action plans related to workplace injuries, and with HR Business Partner(s) and Manager of Leave & Disability Plans on return to work programs, evaluations, and some case management.
  • Conducts quarterly ergonomic classes; develops or enhances current injury prevention education program.
  • Collaboratively works with JAX's Wellness Program Manager to help develop and drive wellness initiatives including, but not be limited to, education classes, health fairs, and other events that contribute to the overall wellbeing of employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

BS Degree, Master's Preferred in Athletic training, occupational health and wellness

Passed the Board of Certification (BOC) exam for Athletic Trainer and remain current and in good standing with the BOC. Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification also required.

2-5 years of prior experience

Training in Industrial Ergonomics

Ability to provide large group training.

Good decision making, communication and interpersonal skills, detail-oriented; compassionate.

Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports if necessary.

Salary Range $49,362 - $71,575
