The Materials Manager develops and leads all materials managment strategies with a focus on business growth in a cost-controlled environment. Lead critical decision-making in areas of min-max strategy, on-hand inventory targets, adjustmentsfor changing lead times, and analyzing/managing order point algorithms. Maintain a balance betweenWOWing thecustomers with available inventory investment wisely-while also supporting the needs of internal teams who depend on that inventory to deliver excellent service.
Primary Duties
- Lead the Materials Management group to achieve departmental and company goals including improving fill rates, optimizing inventory levels/turns and improving supply chain performance.
- Utilize current sales data, historical data, seasonality trends, and sales forecasts to determine appropriate quantities and timing. Includes developing short- and long-term capacity plans and providing forecasts to suppliers to support planning and alignment. Develop or adjust purchasing/planning strategies to support changing market demands.
- Develop an understanding of markets andcustomers'needs by partnering with sales & marketing for upcoming sales campaigns and promotions. Partner with Operations to implement plans and understand supplier performance.
- People management includes managing, developing and training employees to improve the understanding of supply chain management concepts and our advanced planning system.Oversight of a team of four (4) buyers.
- Identify opportunities and lead projects to improve the supply/demand process.
- Establish and monitor key performance metrics for the Planning group that support goals.
- Support cross-functional needs with input and analysis in the areas of Supply Chain issues.
- Lead key projects that support the growth of the business which may include key customer rollouts, acquisitions, internal process improvements, realignment of distribution channels, etc.
- Manage inventory levels and minimize the creation of excess and obsolete inventory.
- Gain understanding of planning systems and troubleshooting as necessary.
- Structure and develop the planning organization to support expected growth.
- Supplier & Product Management:
- Negotiate lead time, Minimum Order quantities (MOQ).
- Update supplier information, pricing, MOQ, lead time as needed.
- Communicate directly with suppliers on production plans and ways to improve efficiency.
- Accurate and timely reporting on inventory position, investment, and actions implemented.
Qualifications
- ERP Systems Expertise: Proven experience working with ERP systems to support supply chain operations.
- Decision-Making & Prioritization: Ability to manage multiple priorities, make sound decisions quickly, and respond with urgency.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical mindset with a high aptitude for solving complex problems and coaching others in problem-solving techniques.
- Quantitative & Financial Acumen: Skilled in cost modeling, data analysis, and understanding financial concepts and operational KPIs.
- Leadership & Coaching: Proven leadership capabilities with experience in coaching, developing, and leading teams.
- Technical Proficiency: Competency in Microsoft Office Suite, ERP
- Organizational Excellence: Superior skills in organization, coordination, planning, and delegation.
Education / Experience
- 5-7 years advanced level purchasing and ERP experience + bachelor degree or 10+ years of advanced level purchasing and ERP experience.
- Proven track record of leading a team of buyers for a minimum of 5 years including record of employee development and advancing a team.
- Consumer Goods/Electronics/Aftermarket experience preferred.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $92,700.00 to $114,500.00. This role is also eligible for a bonus. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
