This role involves developing and implementing quality control systems, analyzing production data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in casting processes and product reliability. Conduct tests to determine quality of finished products, process cast samples, returned product, scrap, plant processes and perform ISO audits. General Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote and uphold The McWane Way principles, values, and behaviors.
- Adhere to safety protocols outline in the Tyler Union Safety Management Program.
- Assist supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow ergonomic and safe lifting techniques.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols specific to green sand molding and casting operations.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and customer-specific requirements.
- Conduct internal audits and support external audits.
- Monitor and analyze sand properties, mold integrity, and casting quality.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify root causes of defects and implement corrective actions.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma, Lean, or other methodologies.
- Oversee dimensional and visual inspection of castings.
- Utilize tools such as CMMs, spectrometers, and hardness testers to validate product quality.
- Develop and maintain inspection documentation and control plans.
- Address customer complaints and non-conformance reports with thorough investigations and resolution plans.
- Work with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of quality metrics, test results, and corrective actions.
- Prepare reports for management review and customer communication.
- Perform product testing on samples and returned product as required. Tests may include dimensional inspections, pressure tests, micrograph analysis, hardness testing and/or any special tests required to qualify new product or certify returned product.
- Process returned products; maintaining data and reports for all manufacturing locations and vendors.
- Perform quality ISO audits.
- Review yard scrap to include maintaining data and reports.
- Work with management in developing and maintaining statistical process charts that will monitor plant processes.
- Conduct quality training to hourly personnel within the production departments.
- Approve outside vendor samples, machined product, and in process inspections. Issue quality alerts and corrective actions to vendors and follow up through closure.
- Review opportunities for continuous improvement and work closely with the production departments to incorporate a focus on "quality at the source".
Inspect all plant processes and product lines for conformance to published internal and external specifications. Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanic, Industrial, or Materials Engineering preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience in green sand molding environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of metallurgical principles and casting defects.
- Proficiency in quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, 8D, and root cause analysis.
- Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Physical & Cognitive Abilities
- This role involves frequent physical activity, including climbing, walking, standing, stooping, balancing, and handling tools and materials. Employees must be able to lift to 50 pounds, as needed.
- The work environment varies between a standard office setting and a manufacturing plant. Plant conditions may include exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise.
- Regular walks through the plant are required. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as needed, including safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
