Job Description Summary:

Receives and transmits emergency and urgent information via radio, computer, and telephone to Protective Services personnel.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

  • Documents designated communications and events in the incident reporting system.
  • Answers and prioritizes all emergent and non-emergent calls.
  • Monitors CCTV cameras and access control systems.
  • Dispatches appropriate parties to incidents that occur on or surrounding campus.
  • Notifies Protective Services officers of incoming helicopters and EMS.
  • Acts as a liaison by providing information regarding a visitor's visitation at NCH or an employee's day to day activities.

Education Requirement:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Associate's Degree from an accredited institution and/or equivalent law enforcement/military experience and training, preferred.

Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend hospital/departmental policies and procedures, criminal statutes, and regulatory publications.Ability to write legibly.
  • Sufficient interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all persons, regardless of position, ethnicity, sex, age, or economic status.
  • Sufficient interpersonal skills to consistently and equitably enforce the policies of the department and hospital and the ability to effectively intervene in interpersonal conflict.
  • Excellent customer services skills, and the ability to multitask.

Experience:

  • Upon hire, the Officer will undergo a 4 to 6 week training cycle on the floor and in a classroom setting, under the supervision of a Senior Officer, working multiple shifts and locations for familiarization and experience and learning physical intervention and verbal techniques.
  • Officer will be required to complete the IAHSS Basic Security Officer training within the first six months of being hired at the officer's expense. Once the officer has successfully completed the training, the Security Department will reimburse the officer the cost of the test.
