POSITION SPECIFICS

The Department of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Health and Human Development is seeking an Experiential Learning Program Specialist/Academic Advisor. This position oversees the management and implementation of competency tracking systems for accreditation as well as advises the Masters in Professional Studies (MPS) students on academic policies and procedures, course scheduling, degree progress.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all activities related to the coordination of experiential learning sites and preceptors for students in the Department including but not limited to: coordinating with University's Office of General Counsel to maintain affiliation agreements and Certificates of Insurance, initiating new affiliation agreements, maintaining relationships and acting as a liaison with sites and preceptors, completing site assignments and scheduling, maintaining an experiential learning database for the department, communicating and coordinating with program faculty, preceptors and others involved with the program and its students.

  • Manage the program to ensure Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics under the Future Education Model for a Graduate Program (ACEND FG) standards are maintained and revised as needed

  • Review of the program's experiential learning experiences and student learning outcomes to meet accreditation standards

  • Participate as an active member of both the MPS Advisory and MPS Admissions Committees which are Experiential MPS track-related committees

  • Support preceptors and faculty for experiential learning experiences as needed.

  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and other advising tasks

  • Maintain MPS course progression and enroll Integrated Under-Graduate (IUG) students in courses each semester.

  • Collaborate with undergraduate advisor regarding IUG students

  • Develop, plan/organize, participate, and/or conduct events or implement other strategies or practices for student engagement

  • Maintain MPS Pride for student communication as well as Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) exam tracking list

  • Complete all activities related to processing of verification statements, registration examination system (REPS), and graduation; Plan and conduct orientation and training events for MPS Exp Track students

  • Visit experiential learning sites in-person as needed

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Master's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

Education Requirements:

A Master's Degree and credential as a Registered Dietitian / Registered Dietitian Nutritionists is required for accreditation purposes. An equivalent combination of education and experience can not be accepted for this position.

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $61,800.00 - $89,600.00.
