Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology

About the Role:

The Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive cardiovascular care within a Medical Office Building (MOB) setting. This position is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients with a wide range of cardiac conditions, ensuring optimal health outcomes through evidence-based practices. The role involves collaborating closely with cardiologists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Additionally, the Nurse Practitioner will provide patient education on disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence to promote long-term cardiovascular health. Ultimately, this position aims to enhance patient quality of life by delivering compassionate, high-quality care in a dynamic outpatient environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice.
• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner with a focus on Adult-Gerontology or Family Practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in cardiology or a related healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Cardiology Nursing (e.g., CPNP-AC or similar).
• Experience working in an outpatient cardiology clinic or Medical Office Building environment.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems specific to cardiology practice.
• Strong background in patient education and chronic disease management.
• Participation in cardiology-related continuing education or professional organizations.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations focused on cardiovascular health.
• Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests such as EKGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests.
• Develop and manage treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic cardiac conditions including hypertension, heart failure, and arrhythmias.
• Prescribe medications and adjust therapies in accordance with current clinical guidelines and patient response.
• Provide patient education on cardiac disease management, risk factor modification, and preventive care.
• Collaborate with cardiologists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and referrals.
• Document patient encounters accurately and maintain compliance with regulatory and institutional policies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with advances in cardiology practice.
