Job Description

Omni Royal Orleans is seeking a Lead Bartender to join our team.

Located in the heart of the French Quarter, Omni Royal Orleans anchors the corner of St. Louis and Royal Streets and has long been recognized as a historic Four Diamond hotel that reflects a more sophisticated time.

As part of our recent renovation, the Royal Lobby Bar is a new addition, enhancing our tradition of timeless elegance while offering guests a refreshed experience.

Responsibilities

    Greet all guests promptly in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Upsell and suggestively sell beverages to enhance the guest experience.
  • Prepare drinks and complete beverage orders efficiently and consistently for guests and other servers.
  • Monitor guests' drinks, anticipate needs, and ensure prompt refills.
  • Supervise and support other bartenders during shifts, maintaining consistent service standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and service readiness of the bar area.
  • Perform proper closing procedures, including reconciling cash and completing shift reports.
  • Assist in training new bartenders and mentor staff on mixology, service techniques, and Omni standards.
  • Ensure proper payment and thank guests upon departure, maintaining a welcoming experience.


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years' bartending experience in a high-volume, luxury, or fine-dining bar environment.
  • Must hold a current Louisiana Responsible Vendor's Permit.
  • Must have current ServSafe Food Handler's Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of wine, spirits, and beer, including proper pours and mixology techniques.
  • Previous cash handling experience required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and pleasantly, both verbally and in writing, with guests, management, and co-workers.
  • Proficient in accurately and efficiently inputting information into MICROS.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor.
  • Ability to work cohesively with co-workers within and outside the department.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and follow up on guest requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent customer service, service recovery, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Proven leadership skills, including supervising staff, training, and ensuring adherence to bar standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching overhead, and twisting.

  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods during shifts.

Working Environment:

  • Interior of hotel, in restaurant and kitchen areas, with exposure to humidity, steam and extreme temperatures.
  • Exposure to Food and Beverage hazardous cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to food items and beverages.

Tools & Equipment:

  • Coffee maker/urn, toaster, microwave, beverage machines, bus trays, dishware, silverware, glassware, queen-mary cart, telephone, pen/pencil, photo-copying machine.
