Job Description
Omni Royal Orleans is seeking a Lobby Bar Manager to join our team. Located in the heart of the French Quarter, Omni Royal Orleans anchors the corner of St. Louis and Royal Streets and has long been recognized as a historic Four Diamond hotel that reflects a more sophisticated time. As part of our recent renovation, the Royal Lobby Bar is a new addition, enhancing our tradition of timeless elegance while offering guests a refreshed experience. Responsibilities
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all beverage offerings, including spirits, wine, beer, and cocktail menus.
- Assist in the development and execution of beverage menus, seasonal features, and cocktail programs in collaboration with the culinary team.
- Ensure all bar staff complete side work, opening/closing checklists, and maintain operational standards.
- Conduct spot checks of liquor pars, assist with inventory counts, and place orders as directed by the Manager.
- Hold pre-shift meetings to review promotions, service standards, and product knowledge.
- Train, coach, and evaluate bar staff on service techniques, cocktail preparation, responsible alcohol service, and guest engagement.
- Address guest feedback, comments, and complaints, escalating major concerns to the Bar & Beverage Manager.
- Remain present on the bar floor during peak hours to supervise service flow, engage with guests, and support staff.
- Ensure consistency in beverage preparation, presentation, and portion control.
- Assist with scheduling and payroll preparation, providing input on labor needs.
- Participate in interviewing and onboarding new bar and beverage staff; final hiring decisions made by the Manager.
- Monitor beverage costs, control waste, and enforce loss prevention measures; report any concerns to the Manager.
- Prepare and follow up on maintenance requests for bar equipment and facilities.
- Approve and manage staff time-off requests when delegated.
- Participate in regular staff and departmental meetings.
- Support the Manager in monitoring staff performance and attendance, providing feedback to leadership.
- Maintain professional email communications and respond promptly.
- Stay informed about resort property events and beverage-related promotions.
- Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming for self and staff.
- Participate in company trainings and champion the Omni All In culture.
Qualifications
- Must hold a current Louisiana Responsible Vendor's Permit.
- Must have current Managers ServSafe Food Handler's Certification.
- Current Louisiana Vendor's Permit and Manager's Permit required.
- 1-2 years' experience as a bar supervisor, lead bartender, or assistant manager in a high-volume, luxury, or award-winning bar, restaurant, or hotel.
- Strong knowledge of mixology, wine service, craft beer, and beverage cost controls.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Prior experience in serving, bartending, and cash handling required.
- Experience in beverage program development and cocktail menu design preferred.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and remain calm under pressure.
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate POS systems, printers, telephones, and standard bar equipment.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking during service hours.
- Ability to lift and carry beverage cases and supplies, up to 50 lbs.
Working Environment
Work performed inside hotel and bar areas, with constant interaction with staff and guests. Occasional work outdoors for events, with exposure to varying weather conditions. Exposure to alcohol, mixers, food items, and cleaning chemicals.
Tools & Equipment
POS systems (MICROS), Kronos, Microsoft Office. Standard bar equipment, including cocktail tools, refrigeration systems, and beverage dispensing equipment
