Patient Access Liaison - Neurosurgery
Location: West Bloomfield, MI
Schedule: Full Time - Day Shift

Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Patient Access Liaison to support the Neurosurgery department in West Bloomfield. This role plays a key part in coordinating surgical scheduling, managing provider templates, and ensuring seamless patient access across the service line.

The ideal candidate will have experience with surgical case scheduling in EPIC, knowledge of medical coding, and familiarity with insurance authorization and appeals processes. Strong organizational skills, problem-solving ability, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule operating room (OR) cases by entering information from surgical sheets into EPIC.

  • Assist with obtaining and following up on surgical clearances.

  • Support administrative functions including scheduling peer-to-peer reviews and processing insurance appeal letters.

  • Monitor and follow up on appeals with insurance companies.

  • Own and maintain the master schedule template for the Neurosurgery service line, including all provider templates.

  • Manage and implement schedule changes, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

  • Collaborate with scheduling partners such as the Contact Center and RPO to support patient access needs.

  • Act as a centralized scheduling resource for referring physicians, patients, and internal staff across all sites of practice.

  • Ensure scheduling practices, protocols, and procedures are standardized and consistently applied across the department.

  • Provide reporting and oversight related to clinic resource availability.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with surgical case scheduling and EPIC strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic coding helpful.
  • Familiarity with insurance authorization and appeals processes.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with providers, staff, and patients in a fast-paced environment.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High School or G.E.D. equivalent. Associates degree/ two years or more of college is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a business office/healthcare environment including experience with scheduling appointments and schedule maintenance.
  • Analytical ability required preparing physicians' schedules is preferred.
  • Familiarity with computer applications in a PC and patient scheduling environment is required as well as the strong Microsoft office skills.
