Position Summary

The Director of the Pulse Center of Excellence (COE) is responsible for the Center of Excellence's strategic direction, operational effectiveness, and performance outcomes of services across all locations Pulse Heart Institute (PHI) serves. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Innovation, this position ensures alignment with PHI's mission, vision, and strategic goals.
The Director partners in coordinating operations across all Pulse sites linked with the COE, ensuring consistent implementation of best practices, policies, and standards. This role is accountable for achieving clinical, financial, and operational targets, including margin, growth, and quality metrics as approved by the Pulse Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance clinical, operational, and economic outcomes across the COE.
  • Identify and pursue market-specific opportunities to expand access, increase market share, and support contracting efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Physician dyad director and executive leadership to advance PHI's innovation and clinical quality initiatives.

Operational Effectiveness:

  • Ensure consistent operational excellence across all PHI sites, including hospital-based and outpatient locations.
  • Lead the implementation of standardized policies, procedures, and performance metrics.
  • Oversee practice operations including finance, marketing, human resources, information systems, and ancillary services.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including physicians, consultants, regulatory agencies, and community partners.
  • Collaborate closely with physician dyads and executive leadership to support provider engagement and alignment.
  • Represent PHI in professional organizations and strategic partnerships.

Program Development & Innovation:

  • Drive the development and implementation of innovative care models and service delivery improvements.
  • Support managed care and third-party contracting initiatives as needed.
  • Provide input on physician compensation and reimbursement strategies when requested.

Governance & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain accountability for achieving board-approved performance targets and reporting outcomes.

Scope of Responsibility:

  • Oversight across all locations PHI serves.
  • Broad scope encompassing a wide range of services and programs within PHI.
  • May include a dual matrixed reporting structure for hospital-based leadership roles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree in healthcare administration, public health, business administration or related clinical area preferred
  • Eight (8) years of professional or technical experience, including at least (1) year is in healthcare project management, strategic planning, or system-wide implementation
  • Five (5) years of managerial or supervisory experience
  • Experience in a cardiovascular health environment is preferred
  • Consideration may be given to internal candidates not meeting the minimum qualifications

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $131,830.00 - $189,696.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
