What you will do

Johnson Controls is hiring! As the Test Engineer/Mechanical Engineer you will help support our chiller equipment test engineering team. You will work directly with other test engineers, product design engineers, and labor staff to support projects within the equipment research and development test lab. This will include projects for collecting operating data from chillers and their sub-components, improving test efficiency, reducing cost, improving data quality, continuous improvement / efficiency improvements, and sustaining test operation across several test stations simultaneously. Support of labor operations include rigging and moving various size chillers in and out of test stations, assembly and dismantling of chiller components and systems for modifications, connecting temporary water piping to systems, installing test instrumentation, operating the chiller systems and components, system troubleshooting, and collecting data via computerized control system. This role is onsite based in New Freedom, PA. Candidates must be commuting distance or able to relocate.

How you will do it

  • Configure, setup, and monitor for expected chiller operation regarding various temperature, pressure, power meters, and measuring devices using established company procedures and schedules.

  • Understand and provide technical recommendations to the labor force for set up and operation of the test facility and chiller under test.

  • Work with product engineering team members to establish good execution sequences for chiller and component testing.

  • Maintain strong interaction with product design team to ensure expected outcomes are understood and met.

  • Troubleshoot nonconforming systems and components.

  • Provide direction to test lab personnel on specific work assignments.

  • Perform process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency as directed.

  • Develop work procedures to improve work processes, equipment and facility operation, and engineering test conditions.

  • Collaboration with vendors for tools and purchase of process improvement items.

  • Implementation and maintain Safety requirements for equipment and processes throughout the lab.

What we look for

  • BS in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering.

  • 0-2 years engineering experience in manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of lean production processes

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

  • Understanding of standard technical principles, theories, concepts, techniques, and processes.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $57,000 - $81,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, andabilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
