OVERVIEW
We are looking for an experienced and reliable financial process improvement specialist to join Merrick's financial services team. You will be responsible for applying your financial analysis and account reconciliation skills to systematic issues, ensuring higher quality of data in the system allowing for accurate and complete system accounting and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Oversee and reconcile intercompany transactions.
- Champion initiatives to enhance internal controls, improve data integrity, and drive automation across revenue accounting functions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams in data and engineering to enhance data quality and streamline revenue reporting from multiple systems.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on all facets of technical project accounting, including but not limited to ASC 606. Proactively research, interpret, and apply other relevant GAAP guidance to unique transactions, documenting robust accounting positions.
- Translate complex technical accounting assessments into clear, actionable operational processes for billing, collections, and financial reporting teams, ensuring proper system setup and data flow.
- Identify opportunities for streamlining existing processes and lead implementation efforts for automation and efficiency; and develop and implement processes from scratch.
- Serve as a key member of our M&A accounting integration team. Lead contact for M&A system integrations and conversion to percent complete accounting.
- Cross-train and act as backup to other members of the accounting team, including support of project accounting and revenue recognition.
- Plan, implement and monitor the accounting policies and procedures of the company.
- Analyze and reconcile accounts, identify, and resolve discrepancies and errors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA certification required.
- Previous A&E industry experience preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
- Ability to drive work independently and manage multiple projects that vary in scope and complexity simultaneously.
