Job # EE25101 Job Title Hardware Control Engineer Office Location Roanoke, VA Business Function/Department Industrial Systems/Project Application & Hardware Engineering Sales Territory, if applicable N/A General Role Description Provide hardware design for electrical distribution and control solutions for the industrial systems projects that meet client needs and fulfill project requirements. Role Accountabilities - Develop detail specifications for suppliers through collaboration with mechanical original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and end-user clients, per the contract and global industry standards, to ensure high quality designs and on-time delivery - Create electrical circuit drawings that accurately reflect each project's PC, PLC & I/O, AC and DC drives, power distribution panels, operator station devices, and other control equipment to ensure a design that meets project requirements and quality standards - Generate IO spreadsheet that defines the electrical and drawing attributes for each and every IO point required for a project - Generate Company specific IO Card drawings for each project using Company designated automated drawing tool - Create the AC and DC control power distribution drawings, relay, network and sensor interface drawings for each project using Company designated software - Ensure "as shipped" systems meet all client requirements as defined in the project contract, including system specifications and performance guarantees, while achieving business goals and objectives - Track all revisions to the IO list and drawings, complying with established change control procedures - Create project drawings to reflect preliminary, manufacturing, as shipped, and final "As-Installed" configurations - Create and update the project drawings to support site commissioning activities as needed - Develop project documentation, such as drawing lists, panel lists, enclosure layout drawings, spare parts lists, and equipment lists, in accordance with standard design standards and project requirements - Control document distribution, and archiving using established document control procedures - Develop engineering standards and engineering practices that contribute to the development of Company engineering automation tools to improve productivity, increase quality, and reduce cost of hardware design - Communicate and collaborate with mechanical OEM and client engineers as assigned - Provide timely technical guidance to internal and external clients and suppliers as required to ensure total project requirements are met General Employee Accountabilities - Bring full effort to bear on tasks assigned by manager - Give manager best advice - Give earliest notice when work cannot be delivered as specified - Cooperate and collaborate with peers and interact cross-organizationally as specified by manager - Exemplify Company Core Values: Integrity, Client Focus, Team Orientation, and Personal Commitment - Comply with all Company policies, practices, and procedures and all regulations and laws - Recommend viable improvements proactively - Ensure effective utilization of business tools and processes Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering with control automation coursework, mechatronics, computer engineering or related field, or equivalent via education and/or work experience - 2 years' design experience in circuit and control panel design and/or commissioning of control systems for industrial applications - Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards related to control panel design including device selection, cable selection etc. - Demonstrated knowledge of industrial PLC and field I/Os - Demonstrated experience using AutoCAD or equivalent drawing tool for industrial applications - Demonstrated success as contributing member in project team - Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts - Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills - Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility - Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook - Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, up to 15%, sometimes, with limited notice Preferred Qualifications - 2 years' design experience specializing in circuit design and control panel design for complex coordinated industrial systems application - Proficiency in Visio 2003 Drawing Tools - Proficiency in AutoCAD - Proficiency in EPLAN - Advanced Excel Skills - Demonstrated knowledge of Visual Basic programming or equivalent to write macros to automate drawing generation process Link to TMEIC Corporation Americas website: https://www.tmeic.com/.
