About the role:

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Mechanical Engineering student to join our Equipment Engineering Group as a Mechanical Engineering Intern. In this role, you will collaborate closely with experienced Mechanical Engineers and Designers to develop innovative solutions to complex manufacturing challenges. Your work will directly support the design, prototyping, and optimization of custom equipment used in the production of life-changing medical devices.

This internship offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment where you'll gain exposure to real-world engineering problems, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and deepen your understanding of manufacturing processes across both automated and manual assembly lines. You'll have the opportunity to apply your mechanical aptitude, CAD skills, and problem-solving mindset to projects that enhance production efficiency, reliability, and scalability, ultimately helping deliver high-quality therapies to patients around the world.

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows an onsite work model, requiring employees to be in our local office at least fourdays per week.

Corporate housing and relocation are available for those who are eligible.

Your responsibilities will include:



  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and develop innovative mechanical solutions to manufacturing challenges


  • Design, prototype, and test mechanical assemblies that meet customer specifications and support production needs
  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues on the production floor, applying mechanical insight and troubleshooting skills
  • Create robust mechanical systems with long-term reliability, maintainability, and scalability in mind
  • Use 3D CAD tools to model, iterate, and document mechanical designs for manufacturing equipment and tooling
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment performance, safety, and usability
  • Gain hands-on exposure to the full spectrum of medical device manufacturing processes, from manual assembly to high-volume automation
  • Apply mechanical aptitude to build, repair, and maintain custom equipment and systems used in production environments
  • Contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced engineering culture focused on innovation, quality, and patient impact



Required Qualifications:



  • Current rising junior or rising senior (grad dates between Dec 2026 - May 2028), graduating senior (May 2026 grad) continuing on to grad school, or current grad student. Must have at least one semester of school left post-internship to qualify.
  • Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Biomedical, Electrical, Industrial & Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or Robotics.
  • Must be able to start internship on May 18thor 26th,2026 and work for 12 weeks
  • Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor) for mechanical design and documentation
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and enthusiasm for building, repairing, or maintaining mechanical systems
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, or troubleshooting mechanical assemblies in academic or personal projects



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Medical Device industry experience
  • Exposure to continuous improvement principles or lean manufacturing concepts is a plus
  • Effective communication skills for documenting designs and sharing technical insights with team members
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional engineering environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, self-starter mindset

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
