As the International Compliance Manager, you will take the lead in developing and managing internal export and import controls to ensure full compliance with regulatory agencies. You will play a key role in driving a reduction in costly errors within USDA export and import documentation for international shipments. In this position, you will create and oversee processes and procedures to maintain an exceptional level of accuracy, ensuring alignment with both regulatory and company requirements.

Your role will demand a deep understanding of the company's operations, sales, logistics, and compliance requirements, along with a strategic awareness of associated costs. As the resident expert in USDA export regulations, you will act as a vital liaison with the USDA and other industry organizations, fostering strong relationships to support compliance initiatives. This is a pivotal position that combines leadership, precision, and expertise to streamline international operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • USDA Compliance: You will ensure all policies and regulations from USDA, importing countries, and the company are followed. You will lead efforts to reduce errors, cut costs, and improve compliance by eliminating inefficiencies and ensuring timely, accurate documentation. You will oversee strategies to exceed customer and company goals, manage the PHIS export module and USDA export library, and act as a key liaison with regulatory agencies like USDA and PHIS.

  • Documentation Management: You will oversee and manage both internal and third-party documentation teams to ensure all customer, importing country, and company requirements are met. You will audit documentation for accuracy and timeliness, working to reduce delays and costs in the process. Additionally, you will lead the development and implementation of SAP GTS applications, driving its growth and defining policies and procedures to streamline product exports.

  • Export/Import Compliance: You will create and oversee HS/Schedule B tariff descriptions for all products exported from the U.S., ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Department of Homeland Security regulations. You will ensure the accuracy of export data reporting to these agencies and manage the export and import registrations and certifications required by foreign countries. In this role, you will ensure full compliance with governmental and company requirements, maintaining eligibility for international trade.

WHAT WE'RE SEEKING:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in business, international business, or international relations and 5+ years of relevant experience in international logistics or international customer service within the protein industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership is required.

  • Experience working directly with USDA export requirements for proteins.

  • Strong critical, analytical, and problem solving skills.

  • The ability to work through complex, unstructured problems.

  • Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and oral formats.

  • High level of written and oral communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.
