Job Description:

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

As the Regional CEO, you will lead the Ohio in delivering the core mission of the American Red Cross. This includes achieving performance goals across mission delivery, communications and marketing, volunteer services, operational management, blood donor recruitment and sponsorship, and annual fundraising under \$15M. You will serve as the public face of the organization, representing the Red Cross to media, donors, biomedical partners, blood sponsors, and community stakeholders.

You will manage regional functional officers and chapter leaders, operating within a matrixed structure in partnership with division leadership to ensure successful execution of organizational programs. A key part of your role will be to develop and engage volunteer boards and community leaders, while building a diverse and inclusive workforce-both paid and volunteer-that reflects the communities we serve and upholds the core values of the American Red Cross

  • Mission Delivery & Performance
    Drive regional performance across service delivery, workforce engagement, biomedical support, revenue generation, and expense management. Ensure compliance with corporate governance, policies, and applicable regulations. Maintain financial accountability for all contributions, income, expenses, and assets.
  • Community Capacity Building
    Design and implement a strategic approach to community capacity building that aligns with organizational goals and responds to local needs and strengths.
  • Fundraising Leadership
    Collaborate with division fundraising and development teams to meet regional fundraising goals. Actively contribute to strategy development and execution to grow financial resources.
  • External Relations & Partnerships
    Cultivate strong relationships with donors, blood sponsors, government entities, corporations, civic groups, military organizations, and other nonprofits. Serve as a visible and active community leader to enhance awareness and commitment to the Red Cross mission.
  • Communications & Visibility
    Ensure consistent and strategic media and social media engagement to promote Red Cross services and activities. Align messaging with national and regional communication strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    Foster a collaborative environment across all lines of service and business units. Ensure community needs are communicated internally and that Red Cross capabilities are effectively shared with external stakeholders.
  • Volunteer Engagement & Service Delivery
    Strengthen regional service delivery through program development and volunteer engagement. Ensure timely, high-quality services across the region, including youth involvement through Red Cross Clubs. May be called upon to support national response operations.
  • Board & Volunteer Leadership
    Oversee regional board members and community volunteer leaders. Guide chapter boards to ensure diversity, representation, and active committee engagement in advocacy, fundraising, and service delivery.

Preferred Residence of: Columbus Metro Area: This position is eligible for relocation assistance.

Travel: 30-50% Ability to travel within Region.

The salary range for this position is $180,000-$185,000/yr (plus incentive)

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role

You will be eligible to participate in an incentive plan based on annual individual and organization performance

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in community organization, public/business administration, or nonprofit management.
  • Experience:
    Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in business, sales, or nonprofit leadership.
  • Management Experience:
    At least 5 years of experience managing teams and overseeing program operations.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Proven leadership and team development skills
    • Ability to build consensus and lead diverse executive teams
    • Strong judgment in complex situations
    • Excellent communication, public speaking, and writing skills
    • Fundraising strategy development and execution
    • Demonstrated success in securing significant financial resources
    • Collaborative team player
  • Travel: Travel Requirement: Up to 30% across the region.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Typical office environment with flexibility to respond to urgent needs. Ability to use computers and office equipment for extended periods. May involve driving and working in challenging conditions.

*Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).
