Responsibilities
- Patient Care & Assessment: Conduct physical exams, obtain medical histories, diagnose illnesses, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
- Treatment & Management: Manage acute and chronic conditions, prescribe medications, write chemotherapy orders, and monitor patient response to treatment.
- Diagnostic Procedures: Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and imaging studies.
- Symptom & Support Management: Provide expert management of treatment-related side effects and offer psychosocial support, including counseling and referrals.
- Patient & Family Education: Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, side effects, and wellness strategies.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive, holistic care.
- Emergency Response: Address urgent patient needs via telephone or in-person as required.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate EMR records, complete charge capture, and ensure adherence to reimbursement and documentation requirements.
- Additional Duties: May include hospital rounding, after-hours calls, mentoring, staff education, and case management.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience: Nurse Practitioner
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
- Level I is entry-level and typically requires a minimum of 0-3 years of experience.
- Level II requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience.
- Level Senior requires six (6) years of experience.
- RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
OR Physician Assistant
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification.
- Level I is entry-level and typically requires 0-3 years of experience.
- Level II requires three (3) years of experience.
- Level Senior requires six (6) years of experience.
- Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.
Physical & Work Environment
Active role requiring mobility and occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs). Exposure to clinical environments typical of oncology care. Reasonable accommodation is available for qualified individuals.
