Position Overview

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization for patients seeking routine health testing or critical diagnostic services. This role is responsible for drawing quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring all procedures follow established practices. The PSR I fosters an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures clearly, performing collections safely and accurately, and maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform daily activities accurately, on time, and under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment for patients and staff.
  • Execute both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing in compliance with established procedures.
  • Maintain required records and documentation with accuracy.
  • Deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide exceptional patient care, demonstrating strong communication skills and professionalism.
  • Promote a positive organizational image to patients, clients, colleagues, and the public.


Job Requirements

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric draws.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as staffing needs require.
  • Minimum of 6 months phlebotomy experience (1+ years preferred).
  • Customer service experience in retail or service environments preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience required.


Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical training (e.g., medical assistant or paramedic) preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).


Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6 months phlebotomy experience required; one year or more preferred.
  • Previous experience providing customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.


Additional Job Details (COVID, Commute, Attendance, etc.)

  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required.
  • This position is not eligible for remote work.
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. with mandatory Saturday rotation, 7:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (35-40 hours per week, no overtime).
  • Candidate must have reliable personal transportation; rideshare options (Uber, bus, etc.) are not considered reliable.
  • Commute: Candidates must live within a 20-25 minute commute to the worksite. Home city and commute time must be listed on the resume.
  • Attendance: Candidates must be consistently punctual and available for all scheduled shifts. Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination.
  • Compensation: Pay rate is based on years of direct phlebotomy experience as listed on the resume. Overlapping roles do not count toward additional years of experience.
