Job Objective:
The SCADA Technician I assists with the basic support, maintenance, and troubleshooting of SCADA systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), telemetry inputs, and related field automation systems. Working under close supervision, this role helps field operations teams monitor and maintain equipment communication and system reliability. The Technician I is responsible for learning standard procedures, responding to routine system issues, and supporting more experienced technicians in the implementation and testing of automation solutions.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance for SCADA system.
- Troubleshoots ladder logic and function block PLC programming on platforms including Siemens S7, Allen-Bradley SLC and Control Logix, GE Fanuc and Modicon.
- Installs and troubleshoots multiple PLC\RTU\EFM radio, cellular, satellite and web-based telemetry systems.
- Installs and troubleshoots field wiring to instrumentation and control panels.
- Read, understand, and troubleshoot electrical prints and diagrams.
- Set up and maintain computer and controller networks using Ethernet, Profibus, Device Net and Control Net.
- Assist in documenting SCADA systems per established procedures.
- Learn to support field operations on issues concerning safety, regulatory and industry codes related to electrical systems and SCADA equipment.
- Installs new and existing software.
- Assists with diagnosis of SCADA related desktop problems and initiates repairs.
- Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
- Assists with the development and implementation of automation strategies in coordination with Asset Team's long- and short-range goals.
- Assists with the development of in-house programming efforts; employs various computer programming to upgrade, configure, and debug control systems, process sequences, telemetry and TRU input, graphics displays, and data management.
- Assists with assuring adequate inventory of SCADA related supplies.
- Assists with assuring proper installation, operation, maintenance, and upgrade of company SCADA systems, and associated computer hardware and software.
- May be required to work multiple shifts and areas.

Qualifications:
- One (1) year SCADA or automation experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry, with a special emphasis in Wonderware InTouch, HMI development, and programming of Allen-Bradley family of PLCs.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the company.
- Strong ability in diagnosing and solving SCADA related problems while maintaining patience, professionalism, and courtesy.
- Understanding of SCADA system setup and maintenance regarding administration, programming, database administration, telemetry, and RTU input management.
- Understanding of the technology related to SCADA design and maintenance of a SCADA system.
- Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detailed information in a fast-paced and demanding work environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
- Solid understanding of desktop computers, printers, and general office applications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex computer/information system's information into an organized and presentable manner.
- Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
- Proficiency in the use and application of the following software: Required: Wonderware and RSLogix families of applications. Preferred: Microsoft Office, DirectSoft, ClearSCADA.
- Ability to work a 12-hour, Fourteen (14) days on / Fourteen (14) days off, schedule.
- Ability to travel, and work/stay in remote field locations.
Education Requirements, Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in information technology, electrical engineering, computer science, or a closely related field.
