DESCRIPTION
UC San Diego Health is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Professional who will play a key role in supporting and leading sourcing initiatives across a diverse range of product and service categories. This position combines analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and stakeholder engagement to deliver best-in-class procurement outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Procurement, Contracting, Supply Chain, clinicians, physicians, and leadership to identify sourcing needs and develop strategies that enhance clinical quality, cost efficiency, and operational outcomes.
- Analyze spend and market trends to forecast commodity/category optimization and recommend procurement plans.
- Apply sourcing and procurement methodologies to leverage purchase volume and rationalize the supplier base.
- Support and lead sourcing events, including RFI/RFQ/RFP processes, proposal evaluations, and supplier selection.
- Assist in contract negotiations and execution, ensuring favorable pricing and terms.
- Conduct business reviews and manage supplier relationships.
- Maintain and utilize strategic and financial data sources including ERP and benchmarking databases.
- Perform complex data analysis including ROI, utilization, and variation reporting.
- Ensure ethical procurement practices and compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
- Safeguard sensitive information and adhere to data protection and privacy standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of experience/training.
- Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing or procurement.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.
- Ability to independently perform sourcing assignments and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of sourcing methodologies and commodity/category management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management.
- Experience with healthcare products and services.
- Strong project management capabilities.

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $88,000 - $161,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $42.15 - $77.39 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
