This is a UC San Diego Internal Recruitment open to UC San Diego Employees Only Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Fiscal Affairs has direct and independent responsibility for all financial activities in the Department of Physics, with delegated authority to execute pre- and post-awards, recharges, and service agreements. Oversees all extramural and department operating financial activities, spanning federal, state, and private contracts and grants, university funding, gifts and endowments, recharge activity, service and membership agreements, and other complex arrangements with industrial partners. The Director analyzes, develops, implements, and refines fiscal policies, affiliations, and agreements. Exercises leadership and discretion to address managerial and programmatic challenges, using a high degree of independence, ingenuity, and analytical skill. Provides financial guidance to academic researchers and over 55 principal investigators in the acquisition and administration of research funding. Leads the development of financial best practices that ensure compliance with UC, federal, state, and local regulations. Develops standards to meet audit requirements and promote sound business practices and ethics. Administers the departmental operating budget, including expenditure assignments and long-range financial planning. Prepares analytical studies and expenditure reports, advises department management and campus officials, and actively contributes to the department's strategic planning. Serves as a confidential financial advisor to the CAO and represents the department on campus-wide committees related to finance, research, data, and systems. QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $97,200 - $182,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $46.55 - $87.16 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
