Job Description |
Southwest Virginia Community College seeks a visionary and student-centered leader to serve as Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. Reporting directly to the President, this senior executive will oversee all academic and student services functions, fostering a dynamic, inclusive, and caring learning environment that promotes student success and community vitality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as Chief Academic Officer, providing strategic leadership for academic and student affairs across all college locations.
- Guide college-wide initiatives, enrollment management, and long-range planning aligned with institutional goals.
- Use data to inform decisions and ensure continuous improvement and accreditation compliance.
- Academic Oversight
- Supervise Academic Deans across divisions including Arts & Sciences, Business, IT, Health Technology, and Workforce Development.
- Oversee curriculum development, course scheduling, faculty workload, and instructional quality in credit and workforce programs.
- Support faculty development and foster a culture of academic excellence and innovation.
- Student Services Oversight
- Supervise the Dean of Student Success and Title IX Coordinator, overseeing enrollment services, student support, retention, and learning resources.
- Provide leadership for intercollegiate athletics and ensure compliance with NJCAA or other governing bodies.
- Collaboration & Representation
- Advise the President and serve on the leadership team and key committees.
- Represent the College at regional and state meetings.
- Build partnerships with K-12 schools, universities, employers, and community organizations.

KSA's/Required Qualifications |
- Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution.
- Senior-level experience in academic or student affairs.
- Proven leadership in budgeting, planning, accreditation, and institutional effectiveness.
- Experience with educational technologies and data analytics.
- Ability to work within shared governance and build strong faculty relationships.
- Commitment to the College's mission and regional economic alignment.
