DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Utility Plant Operator, you will perform work and oversee inmate work crews completing tasks related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of a boiler plant. You will maintain efficient operations of two Miura boilers, one Johnston boiler, two CAT generators, and associated equipment under normal and emergency conditions. You will also utilize manual and automatic controls, perform scheduled and unscheduled operational assessments, as well as interpret visual and aural gauges, meters, and sensing devices. This role requires the ability to analyze situations and problems to provide appropriate resolutions that will ensure a continuous supply of heat and hot water. In addition, you will test boiler water chemistry and water softening systems, maintain logs of test results, and inventory water treatment chemicals, reagents, and supplies needed to perform testing. - Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work shifts to be determined.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a steam or hot water generating plant, or a steam and electric generating plant; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
