DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of the Pharmacy Nurse Manager, the Clinical Support Assistant acts as a point of contact for patients. The Clinical Support Assistant performs and participates in front office patient centered duties, to include, but not limited to, greeting patients, appointment scheduling, authorizations, insurance verification and referrals. The Clinical Support Assistant acts as a resource for patients and assists Pharmacists, staff, and ambulatory pharmacy infusion nursing staff as needed. Responsibilities emphasize on quality Customer Service. Completes registration for new or established patients in a timely and accurate manner and adheres to the established registration and scheduling protocols and standards. Ensures that patients have secured authorization and referrals when scheduling appointments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of three (3) years previous related experience in a large complex healthcare setting.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of third party payors including federal, state, and private health plans.

  • Knowledge and/or experience in insurance verification and authorization.

  • Proficient computer skills and be able to work between multiple systems during calls.

  • Ability to work in an interactive environment and possess excellent customer service skillsboth in person and over phone.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

  • Be a self-starter who is accountable, open to new ideas, creative, and flexible.

  • Proven ability to work in a large, complex organization. Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with EPIC, ECIN, PCIS, CPR+, and IDX.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $57,399 - $71,347 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.49 - $34.17

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
