Medical Assistant - SU Residential

Community Care Alliance is seeking a friendly and organized Medical Assistant to grow our team at Jellison House in Johnston, RI. Jellison House is a 16-bed supervised residential treatment program for adult men in early recovery from substance use disorders.

Job responsibilities will include:

Maintaining a warm, welcoming atmosphere at the front desk

Answering phone calls and performing other clerical/reception duties

Building supportive relationships with clients, directing client inquiries to relevant staff with appropriate level of urgency

Transporting clients to external appointments, accompanying clients to medical appointments as needed

Overseeing toxicology screens, packaging, and shipping specimens

Maintaining inventory of medications and medical equipment

Coordinating closely with the residential nurse to alert them of any medical concerns and communicate guidance to relevant staff

Maintaining med sheets for each client with up-to-date medications, doses, and documentation of administration (or client refusal)

Coordinating with pharmacies and prescribers to coordinate refills and resolve any prescription access issues

Reconciling medications for new admissions

Collaborating with the intake coordinator to assist with admissions and referrals

Collaborating with the clinical team to ensure clients secure medical discharge appointments and have necessary prescriptions set

Facilitate groups on health/wellness topics, with guidance of the clinical team

Other administrative, secretarial, and client care duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

- CMA certification preferred

- CNA certification and/or 2 years work experience in a related capacity in the medical or behavioral health field may be considered in place of CMA certification

- One year of experience in customer service (medical reception preferred)

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

- Drivers license

- Fluent in Spanish is preferred, but not required (language stipend available)

- Experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds

- Ability to handle crisis situations and interface with clients and colleagues in a calm, trauma-informed, and responsible manner
