The Research Scientist is responsible for conducting and managing Process, Engineering and Development projects in the area of biologics product/process development for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine (TE/RM) applications, with involvement from initial development through execution and closeout. Performs close guidance and management of Process, Engineering and Development personnel in the performance of activities to support projects.



The Research Scientist will:



  • Manages multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Identifies internal intellectual property and prepares documents for filing and protection tasks.
  • Maintains strong working knowledge of biomedical science related to allograft tissue and relevant standards (ISO, ASTM, AATB, FDA) to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborates with outside companies and physicians to discover requirements for OEM products.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with all departments as required to achieve product launch and on-going success of the department.
  • Collects and analyzes data using appropriate scientific/engineering tools. Reviews data for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepares research reports and manuscripts for publication and/or internal/external review. Prepares grant applications as appropriate. Presents research in appropriate forums (scientific meetings, conferences, etc.) as needed.
  • Collaborates with academia and industry partners to complete experiments. Assists with surgical procedures in support of preclinical and clinical research projects as needed.
  • Provides recommendations for SOPs/Policies and assists in modification/development of same SOPs/Policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Minimum Requirements:


Education and/or Experience



  • PhD or MS degree required from an accredited university in biomedical engineering or closely related scientific area. Consideration may be made in lieu of graduate degrees for career experience in excess of 6 years that demonstrates extensive work in research or technologies related to tissue transplantation, biotechnologies or other related sciences.

  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve and analyze technical problems and give recommendations.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the ability to organize and keep accurate records.
  • Professional development will be continued through training, courses, seminars, conferences, and networking/mentoring.
  • Will be required to handle highly sensitive information with strict confidentiality.
  • Position requires exposure to gross anatomy.
  • Some overnight travel required to attend training workshops, conduct collaborative research, and present work at meetings.
  • Must be able to meet the required physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation.
