JOB SUMMARY

The Air Freight Cargo Handler will play a critical role in supporting operations at the Kuparuk Warehouse and field.

The Air Freight Cargo Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of cargo, including building and securing skids and pallet loads for aircraft, operating equipment tugs, forklifts, and pallet-jacks as well as adhering to strict safety and procedural standards. The Air Freight Cargo Handler will also verify documentation, conduct inspections, resolve cargo-related issues, and provide excellent service to clients and stakeholders. Collaboration with flight crews, ground personnel, and Kuparuk Warehouse teams is essential to ensuring seamless and efficient operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Build skids and pallet loads for aircraft placement, ensuring proper handling and secure placement of cargo.

  • Strap skids, re-stack and wrap pallets, create labels, verify weight, and move materials within the Kuparuk Warehouse and field.

  • Operate tugs, forklifts, and pallet jacks to facilitate cargo movement on and off aircrafts, vans, or flatbeds.

  • Follow all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for personnel and equipment.

  • Verify and complete all necessary documentation related to cargo handling and freight movement.

  • Work collaboratively with flight crews, ground personnel, and warehouse teams to ensure efficient operations.

  • Conduct pre- and post-flight inspections of cargo and equipment to identify and address any issues promptly.

  • Address and resolve issues related to cargo handling, such as delays, damage, or discrepancies, to ensure seamless operations.

  • Provide excellent service to clients and stakeholders, addressing any concerns or inquiries professionally.

  • Manage incoming freight by checking in, organizing, and ensuring accurate tracking and placement.

  • Help load materials onto freight skids, ensuring secure and efficient packing in compliance with safety standards.

  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.

  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.

  • A valid (U.S issued) Driver's License is required.

  • A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.

  • The ability to work 84 hours a week on a 2x2 or 3x3 rotation is required.

  • At least two (2) years of experience in warehouse operations, ramp operations, cargo handling, and/or air freight logistics is required.

  • At least two (2) years of experience operating Tugs, Forklifts, and Pallet-jacks is required.

  • Experience facilitating cargo movement on and off aircrafts, vans, or flatbeds is required.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and work in various weather conditions.

  • Must be able to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills are required.

  • Strong organizational skills and strong computer skills are required.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Three (3) or more years of experience working in warehouse operations, ramp operations, cargo handling, and/or air freight logistics is preferred.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment requirements outlined below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. A post-offer, pre-hire Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to ensure an employee's ability to safely meet job standards. Candidates must be able to comply with the ASRC Energy Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy, successfully pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both urinalysis and hair testing, and meet the physical requirements of working in a remote location under arctic conditions.
