Job Title: Prototyping Lab Technician

Duration: 12+ Months (Possibility of Extension & Conversion depending on Performance)

Location: Milford, CT

Pay range : $30-34/hr

Schedule: Monday - Thursday (Hybrid), core hours 8 AM - 5 PM, flexible start times (7 AM - 4 PM), some Fridays optional

About the Role:

We are seeking a Prototyping Lab Technician to join our R&D team working in two research labs focused on consumer product innovation. This hands-on role involves building and testing small prototypes using 3D printing and machining tools, as well as supporting the development and formulation of soap-based personal care products.

The ideal candidate will split their time between the Engineering Lab (3D printing, machining, and prototype building) and the Technology Lab (soap formulation and processing). This is a great opportunity for someone with strong mechanical aptitude and experience in prototyping to contribute to exciting product development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Build and test small-scale prototypes using 3D printing (SLA, FDM) and machining techniques (drilling, grinding, filing).

Support formulation teams by processing and blending ingredients to develop soap-based personal care products.

Operate and maintain lab tools, machines, and equipment.

Collaborate with designers, engineers, and formulation teams in a lab environment.

Work independently on assigned projects while following lab safety and quality standards.

Assist in the design and fabrication of lab fixtures and pilot samples.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in prototyping, lab technician, or mechanical roles.

Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, machines, and lab equipment.

Familiarity with 3D printing technologies such as SLA and FDM.

Basic machining skills including drilling, grinding, and filing.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a lab environment.

Experience with CAD software, particularly SolidWorks.

Prior experience in prototyping or R&D lab settings.

Exposure to consumer product development or formulation.

Basic understanding of electro-mechanical systems.
