JOB POSITION: LAB COURIER (Part-Time with Benefits)
Division: Water Quality Status: Non-Exempt Grade: 101 Job Code: 620 Reports To: Laboratory Coordinator Date: 07-14-25 Revised Date: 07-14-25 Last Reviewed Date: 07-14-25 SUMMARY OF JOB Pickup and deliver water/wastewater samples to multiple Water Authority locations. Pickup samples from water/wastewater treatment plants and deliver to Laboratories. Makes bottle drop offs as needed. Upon request, may assist with Wastewater Laboratory tasks. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus experience in deliveries to multiple locations or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license. No more than six (6) demerit points on driving record if required to drive Water Authority vehicles. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned or scheduled. * Picks up and delivers water/wastewater samples and bottles to multiple Water Authority locations using an established route and meeting an established time frame for deliveries. * Sorts bottles and coolers and places in proper designated locations at each site. * Upon request, may assist with Wastewater Laboratory light tasks such as emptying dishwashers, sorting glassware, etc. * Make needed trips to meet contractors and Operators to pick up samples. * Maintains chain of custody and adheres to Laboratory SOPs. * Maintains vehicle assigned. * Other duties as assigned. If corrective lenses are noted on driver's license, the lenses must be worn when operating Authority vehicles. * Repetitive movement using equipment is involved. * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, climb, balance or crawl. * Employee must be able to stand for an extended amount of time at the jobsite. * Employee must be physically able to walk several miles during the day. * Employee must be physically able to regularly reach overhead. * Employee must regularly lift, carry and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds. Assistance is required on weight amounts above those listed. Failure to do so could result in injury and denied Worker's Compensation benefits.
