About this opportunity:

The Department of Psychological Science seeks a teacher-scholar with a strong record of teaching excellence to join our department in a non-tenure line (NTL) position. NTL faculty contribute to Ball State's mission through excellence in teaching and service to the university, its students, and the surrounding community. In the Department of Psychological Science,NTL faculty contribute to the department's mission by teaching courses in their area of expertise, including both general and specialized courses at the undergraduate and (potentially) graduate level. The university provides resources to NTL faculty, such as the NTL New Faculty Academy and the Faculty Mentor Network to provide faculty with guidance and reciprocal mentoring opportunities throughout their career. Similarly, the department works to provide access to resources toNTLfaculty for research or community engaged work. NTL faculty are highly valued and are active members of the department, comprising 40% of faculty in the department and averaging over 8 years of employment at BSU. Many of the department'sNTLfaculty have been recognized for their excellence in teaching. NTL faculty are eligible for promotion and merit raises, as well as full participation in the University's affairs and benefits. What you'll do and what you will bring:

Duties and Responsibilities:

As a NTL faculty member, this individual will teach courses in the department and remain current in their specialty area. They are also asked to contribute to the professional life of the Department of Psychological Science and perform other duties as assigned by the department's chair. The typical academic load for contract faculty in our department is 12 credit hours for teaching each semester, with the possibility of course overloads.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in psychology or closely related field from an accredited institution by date of appointment; at least one semester of experience teaching psychology-related courses and/or serving as a teaching assistant for psychology-related courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate one or more of the following qualifications: doctoral degree in psychology or closely related field from an accredited institution; experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level in a psychology program, and/or a history of applied work or academic research. Special consideration will be given to applicants who can teach courses such as Correctional Psychology, Psychology of Criminal Behavior, Psychology of Women and Gender, Prejudice and Discrimination, and/or statistics and research methods.
