SUMMARY: The Product Manager is responsible for all aspects of the product lifecycle from identifying sales and growth opportunities through design and delivery; ensuring competitive pricing, including promotional pricing and sales strategies. Work requires building close relationships with APGFCU's internal and external partners to ensure timely and accurate execution. Responsible for determining potential areas of risk associated with new products and policies. The Product Manager "owns" the product/service and ensures that APGFCU's overall product strategy is consistent with corporate goals. This role includes the indirect management and cooperation of others within the department and throughout credit union to ensure the product's success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Create and maintain product performance plans, including: product roadmaps, marketing calendars, product guides, portfolio segmentation, pertinent research, and performance reporting.
  • Support lines of business through market and competitor research, including: industry, marketplace, and future trends using both primary and secondary sources.
  • Identify, develop and implement new products and initiatives to meet established strategic goals.
  • Work with project teams on product market segmentation and service experience design.
  • Deliver product performance analytics and reporting to lines of business leaders.
  • Review product lifecycle for experiential improvements including shopping, application, funding, servicing, and final payoffs with a member centered design approach.
  • Collaborates with staff to ensure training on new products/services and awareness of all product changes.


Research:



  • Partner with the research team to conduct primary and secondary research on APGFCU's existing and potential products/services.
  • Track all features of competitors' products/services and promotions.
  • Develop demographic and psychographic profiles of both users and non-users using MCIF, and market data. Study the buying preference and behavior of members and potential members, as well as sensitivity to feature changes, especially pricing.
  • Collaborate with members, potential members, branch, sales, IT, and management staff to understand the market and to quantify the specific benefits that members expect from the product/service.
  • Keep informed of all significant industry trends, market developments and the competitive landscape.


Product Development:



  • Develop new products/services and manages existing products/services within assigned product lines including pricing, profitability, channel, promotions, branding, product life cycle, segmentation, relationship management and sales support. Continually reviews assigned products and makes recommendations for product enhancements and new products.
  • Understand and apply applicable laws, regulations, and limitations of assigned product lines.
  • Create a competitive matrix outlining the features of our products/services compared to our competitors'.
  • Establish and continually refines competitive pricing/profit models.
  • Evaluate business partner relationships and establishes or discontinues relationships based on business partners' ability to help APGFCU achieve its goals.


Project Management:



  • Effectively manage multiple projects at once.
  • Demonstrate strong organization of project schedules and manages competing timelines to ensure milestones are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail; strong multi-tasking ability as well as ability to manage deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment


Special Projects:



  • Serve as Lending Product Development and Performance liaison on selected internal project teams.


ADDITIONAL: Responsible for completion of applicable training and compliance on federal regulations and APGFCU policies and procedures as related to the duties of this position (Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security as examples, if applicable).

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: A bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field. Experience may be used in lieu of education accepted.

EXPERIENCE: Five plus years' experience in product development/management preferably in a financial institution with emphasis on quantitative and qualitative research and competitive data analysis. Expertise with MS Office Professional and all member delivery channels required. Proficiency in most, if not all; SQL, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, relationship data warehouses and MCIF.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must know product development and product management processes. Strong analytic and critical thinking skills and an understanding of competitive analysis and benchmarking methodologies. Ability to obtain, analyze and communicate information. Possess strong interpersonal and problem solving skills and creativity. Ability to take a project from conception to roll-out and evaluate the process for future improvement. Ability to work collaboratively to turn raw research data into actionable plans for management's consideration. Exceptional written, oral, and presentation communication abilities and able to work with all levels of the credit union.

Compensation information: Offers are based on experience and education.

$84,427.20 - $105,539.20 annually
