Position Summary:


The primary function of a credit assistant is to support the Credit Team in the granting process, including (1) consistent application of a credit policy, (2) periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and (3) assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad debt losses.



Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Resolve issues with yards and customers
  • Solicits payment on overdue accounts
  • Assists with posting customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions daily
  • Assists with keeping records of all delinquent accounts, incomplete files, and credit risks
  • Assists with verifying references to determine credit risk in customers
  • Assists with applying for liens and monitoring the time cycle associated with them



Basic Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 years of related work experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated knowledge of credit-related laws, procedures, practices, and managing customer accounts

  • Must be a team player, possess good organizational and analytical skills, and demonstrate high integrity and attention to detail
  • Ability to self-manage, show initiative, and solve problems
  • Communicate professionally, excellent verbal and written communication skills



Physical Requirements:



  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 80% of the time.
  • Occasionally, will move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.
  • Must be able to operate basic office machinery.
  • Must be able to communicate with team and management and be able to exchange accurate information in. these situations.
  • Consistently working in office environment

  • Must be able to problem solve and prioritize tasks
  • Must be able to manage stress depending on tasks and deadlines
  • Must be able to multitask
  • Must be able to receive and analyze information
  • Must be able to quickly communicate solutions if problems occur
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of sound judgement
