Job Description:
The Quality Supervisor communicates with the Corporate Quality Department to develop and implement policies and procedures. The supervisor coordinates with divisional departments regarding quality issues and procedures, while also acting as a training resource to other departments for quality related issues, in addition to performing quality audits. This role presents to customers and vendors as necessary, and will respond to and track corrective action responses. The supervisor will investigate and resolve root causes of customer claims, while communicating with steel mills on material quality issues, participating in selection of suppliers, and completing First Article/PPAP submissions. This role develops and implements standard operating procedures, work instructions, and maintains system documents. The supervisor also conducts capability studies, perform gage studies, and manage inspection equipment of calibration activities. Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree in Quality Systems, Manufacturing, or Engineering from an accredited university
- 5+ years of related experience, preferably in supervisory role
- Experience in the metal fabrication or related industry (Burning, press brakes, Machining, Welding)
- Certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001)
- Manage QMS System
- Ability to interpret technical documents and specifications
- Knowledge and understanding of GD&T a plus
- Knowledge and understanding of CMM Programming a plus
- Knowledge of basic computer applications, notably Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Document control
- Knowledge of inventory management and materials production
- Skilled in lean manufacturing principles and practices
- Problem Solving (Critical thinking and ability to find solutions to complex quality and production issues)
- Skilled in customer service and communication
- Audit experience (Internal Process audits, supplier audits)
- Supervisory and Leadership skills (Ability to lead, motivate, guide, and manage a team effectively)
Duties:
- Lead and managed the quality team
- Develop and implement quality standards
- Document inspection outcomes and maintain accurate records
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas of improvement
- Oversee quality control processes (Perform and supervise inspections, audits, and testing of raw materials and finished products)
- Develop and implement quality control procedures and policies
- Collaborate with other departments including production, engineering, sales, scheduling, etc.
- Reporting of Quality metrics for the facility (PPM, OTD, Tons Claimed, PPAP completion Time, etc.)
- Manage supplier quality (Interface with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and supplies)
- Address customer concerns (Expedite resolutions to any customer-related quality issues that may arise)
- Champion process improvement (Initiate and lead change, identify opportunities for improvement to improved efficiency and reduce cost while enhancing performance and Quality within the organization)
