About the role

Reworld's North Shore Municipal Transfer Station (MTS) in Queens, NY, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Shift Supervisor to join our dynamic and growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong leader with hands-on operational experience to play a critical role in the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a high-volume transfer station supporting one of the most important regions in our network. Please note that this position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations during assigned shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant facility performance.

  • Provide leadership and direction to site personnel, including operators, mechanics, and support staff.

  • Oversee shift activities through routine site tours, providing technical oversight and enforcing operational standards.

  • Ensure all equipment is operated and maintained according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations.

  • Approve and manage all equipment maintenance requests and ensure equipment is properly cleared, tagged, and documented before being removed from service.

  • Monitor overall site operations, including crane and material handling systems, adjusting and directing activities as needed to maintain productivity and safety.

  • Take direct control during emergency or abnormal operations, coordinating staff and executing corrective actions as necessary.

  • Support the implementation of technical and safety training programs for shift staff, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in resource recovery, transfer station, power plant, or heavy industrial operations.

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in shift-based operations.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in utility or industrial operations strongly preferred.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field may be considered with equivalent operational experience.

  • Must be willing and able to work a rotating schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb

  • Ability to lift/carry 50lbs

  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces

  • Qualify to wear a full-face respirator

  • Consistently work in various weather conditions
