Job Overview

The Georgetown Center for the Constitution (GCC), founded in 2012, offers a variety of programs on constitutional law and theory at Georgetown Law, placing special emphasis on how best to remain faithful to the Constitution's text. Led by Faculty Directors Randy Barnett and Stephanie Barclay, the Center organizes numerous programs on constitutional law and theory. All of the Center's activities are designed to engage scholars, students, and Supreme Court justices in conversations about how to interpret and apply the document that sits under glass less than ten blocks from Georgetown Law.

The Program Assistant provides crucial administrative, logistical, and communications support for the Georgetown Center for the Constitution. This role is central to the smooth operation of the Center, ensuring the successful execution of its academic programs, events, and daily activities, including: the Visiting Scholars Program, Visiting Fellows Program, Originalism Summer Seminar, Salmon Chase Distinguished Lecture, Thomas Cooley Judicial Lecture, Bradley Fellows Program, and various faculty colloquia, symposia, and book workshops. The Program Assistant will also help with key administrative tasks related to budgeting, social media, website maintenance, and coordinating new initiatives such as podcasts and video production.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in constitutional law. This position is designed with a significant growth trajectory and is intended to become the Program Manager role for a successful incumbent. This is an exceptional opportunity for an aspiring legal professional to gain invaluable experience before or during law school.

Work Interactions

The Program Assistant reports directly to the Executive Director and works with the Program Manager on Center tasks. This position assists with financial, administrative, and day-to-day management duties, as well as special projects for the Georgetown Center for the Constitution and its faculty leadership.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of relevant administrative or program support experience, preferably in an academic, non-profit, or legal setting. Internships and related experience will be considered.
  • Exceptional Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to interact professionally with faculty, students, staff, and distinguished guests.
  • Technical Proficiency: High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and social media platforms. Experience with WordPress is preferred, but a demonstrated ability to learn new programs quickly is essential. An ability to produce and edit podcasts is a plus.
  • Proactive and Collaborative Attitude: A self-starter who can work independently but also thrives as part of a small, collaborative team.
  • Discretion and Professionalism: Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost discretion.


Preferred Candidate Profiles: The ideal candidate will likely fit either of the following two professional profiles, as this role is designed to be a launchpad for either path:

Path in Program Management: A candidate with a dedicated interest in building a long-term career in academic administration, non-profit management, or event planning. This position offers a direct growth trajectory to stay within the center for a professional committed to the Center's mission.
OR

Path to Law School: A candidate who has been accepted to-or has an academic profile (LSAT/GRE scores) competitive for admission to-Georgetown Law. This role is an outstanding opportunity for an individual intending to enroll in the Law Center's Part-Time/Evening J.D. Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$20.16 - $31.30

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
