Job Title: Assistant Vice President, Portfolio Management - Public / Non Profit

What you'll do: Our Public Finance Team is seeking an AVP - Portfolio Manager for managing a portfolio of complex municipal credits in compliance with the Bank's lending policies and procedures. The Portfolio Manager will work with the Vice President, Head of Portfolio Management to manage loans to ensure the credit risks are responsibly monitored and identified. Your primary focus will be on credit surveillance, performance monitoring, risk mitigation, and proactive client relationship management for municipal borrowers and securities across multiple sectors and risk profiles.
- Partner with the Vice President, Head of Portfolio Management to oversee a portfolio of municipal credits, ensuring ongoing compliance with credit policies and covenants.
- Conduct regular credit reviews and in-depth surveillance on assigned municipal issuers, including analysis of audited financial statements, budgets, debt service schedules, rating agency reports, and market developments.
- Maintain and update internal credit risk ratings and models to reflect current performance and outlook.
- Identify and escalate potential problem credits or adverse trends and recommend strategies for remediation or risk mitigation.
- Prepare and present periodic portfolio reports and updates to senior management and committees.
- Monitor macroeconomic, political, and legal developments that may impact municipal issues and proactively assess implications for the portfolio.
- Serve as the primary internal contact for day-to-day portfolio-related matters, coordinating with Relationship Managers, Credit Administration, and other internal stakeholders.
- Engage with external parties such as rating agencies, bond counsel, and municipal advisors as needed to gather information and support portfolio decisions.
- Perform special/ad hoc projects to support the municipal finance team's objectives and enhance portfolio management processes.
What you'll need:
- 2+ years of related experience in Portfolio Management or similar field.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
- Entry level to intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
- Entry level to intermediate knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
- Entry level to intermediate knowledge of commercial credit and loan structuring, and pricing dynamics. Credit analyst training completed.
- Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.
Compensation: Salary range for new hires is generally $100,000.00 - $128,015.00 for Denver, CO. Salary amount is determined by specific job location. In addition, the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and restricted stock.
