The NYTD Specialist plays an integral role in developing and delivering training and technical assistance related to the National Youth in Transition Database (NYTD). As an experienced team member, the NYTD Specialist provides peer-to-peer support to NYTD Reviewers on how to successfully perform NYTD activities. The NYTD Specialist collaborates with senior staff to develop and lead trainings, create TA products, present materials, and plays a key role in pre-onsite, onsite, and post-onsite planning and execution. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
With supervision, leads the development of internal and client-ready materials (e.g., resources, training materials, reports, or other deliverables). Makes revisions with direction and supervision
May participate in evaluation / analytic / methodological activities
Conducts data quality checks; compares data/instruments and text/documents and makes revisions with direction and supervision
Participates in the development of data visualizations contingent upon quantitative area of expertise
Remains current on project related and general child welfare information via training, the Web, and other resources
Conducts literature reviews/web searches/reviews of resources and assists in synthesizing information
Participates in analytic discussions
Reviews and gives feedback on survey materials and data systems
As needed, many handle logistics and may provide onsite support
Occasional travel may be required
PROJECT-SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS:
Advanced understanding of NYTD, including NYTD federal regulations; NYTD Survey methodology; technical analysis/review of NYTD Surveys; NYTD data collection and reporting; NYTD data quality; compliance standards; penalties; NYTD Data Elements; NYTD Final Reports; NYTD Improvement Plans; and Case Record reviews
Understanding and interest in NYTD data collection, analysis, and/or data-driven work
Assists with training, mentoring, and development of NYTD Reviewers; Provides peer-to-peer support to NYTD Reviewers on how to successfully perform NYTD activities
Author or co-author NYTD-related resources and training materials; Serve as a trainer or co-trainer for in-person or virtual trainings; Develop and adapt curriculum, training modules, and other training resources that align with NYTD requirements and support adult learning best practices
Participate in all phases of the NTYD Review, including pre-onsite, onsite, and post-onsite work
Prepare and participate in all planning calls, review pre-onsite documentation, and support the engagement of young people as members of the State NYTD Review Team; Prepare and support NYTD Reviewers during all onsite review activities, which could entail: (1) supporting and presenting during the entrance and exit conferences; (2) participating in the system demonstration, analyzing survey methodology efforts, and delivering those results; (3) conducting case record reviews and debriefings; (4) facilitating and note-taking during community partner interviews and focus groups; and (5) participating in daily debrief meetings; May support NYTD Reviewers during post-onsite phase activities; support the review and finalization of a state NYTD Review Final Report that summarizes findings and recommendations from the review; submit cleaned-up community partner interview and young people focus group notes; may participate in follow-up calls with the state; may support the state NYTD Improvement Plan process.
As needed, provides backup support to the Managing NYTD Specialist and/or other staff members
Ability to engage professionally with the Children's Bureau, states, and other community partners
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Project Specific Experience Requirements:
Previous NYTD Reviewer experience and/or previous NYTD experience (e.g. at the state-level)
Previous successful completion of annual NYTD training and/or must complete next available training(s)
Demonstrated ability to attend and successfully complete ongoing NYTD training
Experience successfully supporting NYTD-related tasks
Current or previous participation in NYTD (e.g., the NYTD survey).
Current or previous professional, leadership, or other advocacy or consulting experience in child welfare or a related social service sector
Current or previous engagement in NYTD work through: (1) outreach to other young people in foster care to administer the NYTD survey; (2) contributions to the state in the formation of the NYTD outreach process; and/or (3) participation in teen conferences or state- or national-level convenings on NYTD
Technical Knowledge:

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Experience:
6 years of NYTD-related experience
Successful completion of at least one NYTD Review
NYTD Reviewer experience or State Youth Ambassador experience
Proficiency in Smartsheet
Proficiency in ATLAS.ti or other qualitative software
Proficiency in SPSS or other statistical packages
