Job Summary

The Network Engineer I operationally supports voice and data communication solutions that support core organizational functions. This role ensures high availability of network services and provides technical support to business units and IT teams, focusing on the day-to-day operational uptime of network infrastructure.

This position is based in Leawood, KS and is not eligible for relocation.

What you will be doing:

  • Perform day-to-day operational support and monitoring for local and wide area network components.
  • Provide advanced technical support to resolve complex network and voice system issues.
  • Research and resolve trouble tickets, documenting root causes and solutions.
  • Ensure optimal network and infrastructure performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Support business initiatives through network design and implementation.
  • Configure routers, switches, and firewalls according to company standards without direct supervision.
  • Manage installation of equipment at remote locations, coordinating on-site staff and contractors.
  • Monitor network health, report performance metrics, and identify potential trouble spots.
  • Proactively troubleshoot network issues to prevent disruptions and maintain service quality.

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline with an IT focus, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ year(s) of direct IT experience.
  • Knowledge of configuration and management of Cisco and Fortinet network equipment.
  • Understanding of voice and networking protocols and technologies.
  • Knowledge of physical cabling standards and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and apply standard practices to identify root causes remotely.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and work collaboratively.
  • Focus on delivering excellent customer service.

What we also value (preferred):

  • Network+ certification.
  • Security+ certification.
  • CCNA or higher.
  • Fortinet NSE4 or higher.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline with an IT focus, or equivalent work experience.
