Position Summary
The incumbent will be expected to apply leadership and technical/functional expertise to analyze client/technology requirements and is accountable for the maintenance and repair of all telecommunications equipment assigned to his/her territory. The incumbent must be fully competent in use of both principles and application of telecommunications technology, able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Strong interpersonal and communications skills are essential. The incumbent will be expected to:
Perform maintenance in accordance with a scheduled preventive maintenance program. Works independently on tasks/projects with limited supervision, may lead small projects and receives guidance only on unusual or complex projects or issues. Possess the technical skills to independently troubleshoot and repair various telecom systems and equipment. Possess a working knowledge of radio equipment, telephony equipment, circuits (DS0, DS1, DS3, OC3, etc.), and microwave and fiber optic transport equipment. Provide after-hours support of issues/incidents.
The incumbent will be required to review and complete any needed areas of training contained in the Telecommunication Technician Training Program. The incumbent must reside or be willing to relocate within an hour drive of the Monticello Operations Headquarters. This position will be provided a company vehicle, test equipment, and specialized tools required for the job. Incumbent required to furnish own hand tools.
Responsibilities
Perform routine telecommunications maintenance tasks assigned within scheduled dates. Perform successful diagnosis of incidents and determine root cause solutions. Perform installation of telecommunications equipment within scheduled dates. Manage the effective utilization of telecommunication hardware assets and maintain an accurate asset inventory. Meet customer requirements for repair of telecommunication equipment within prescribed response times. Act as a point of contact in the field for Engineering and other support personnel. Follow all required corporate and safety policies and procedures. Actively participate in monthly safety meetings. Provide after-hours call out support Work cohesively with peers and management. Act as a mentor to less experienced technicians or newly hired technicians.
Required/Basic Qualifications
Associates degree in electronics field from a 2-year college or equivalent technical certification from a civilian or military electronic technical school covering digital, analog, and communications theory. Five (5) or more years experience successfully maintaining all or most of the following: Fiber Optic Systems, microwave radios, analog and digital multiplex, data and communications systems, networking, and fixed and mobile 900 MHz trunking systems. Class "D" Florida State Drivers license FCC General Radio/Telephone Operator License
Working Conditions
Must be available as necessary, day or night, weekends and holidays, to direct and/or perform work required during planned outages, construction projects or emergency situations both on and off system. This position has a residency requirement of one hour from your residence to the work location in Montecello, FL. In order for you to meet this requirement, you will be required to relocate from your current residence within 12 months of your date hire / effective date. The relocation will be entirely at your own expense.

Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, functional diagrams, and assigned work/construction packages. Ability to use state of the art test equipment such as OTDR, FTDR, TIMS, communication service monitors, oscilloscopes, network and data analyzers, specialty test instruments, etc. Ability to efficiently diagnose systems and troubleshoot all or most of the following: Fiber Optics, Transport (Microwave, Packet radio, SONET, DWDM, DS0 up to OC-192), Telephone Systems (PBXs, subscriber sets, wiring, Network Interfaces, VOIP), Wireless Systems (Two-way radio, Trunked radio, paging, SCADA & wireless networking) , Data Networking (switches, routers, and associated wiring), and common equipment including Antenna Networks (Towers, feedlines, combiners, duplexers), Power Equipment (batteries, inverters & UPS) and Grounding systems. Ability to work in a team environment (strong interpersonal skills, customer service skills, and ability to work with others).
