Assistant/Associate Professor in School Counseling

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UWO) Department of Counseling and Human Services invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in school counseling at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

OUR DEPARTMENT

Our department is comprised of two Master's-level, CACREP-accredited programs (School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling). We are proud of the fact that we are the oldest CACREP-accredited program in Wisconsin, having first earned accreditation in 1992. As a department, we believe strongly in the relationships that we cultivate and model for students.We emphasize developing counseling practitioners who are reflective, self-aware, creative, and adaptable.We intentionally develop classroom learning environments that are steeped in experiential learning, and that promote both personal and professional growth. We believe in modeling and teaching wellness, self-care, and social justice, and we focus on training insightful and skilled practitioners who will contribute meaningfully to the counseling profession for many years to come.

OUR LOCATION

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh is located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, a medium-sized city of about 70,000.The Fox River flows through Oshkosh, and the city is situated on Lake Winnebago (Wisconsin's largest lake). Milwaukee, Green Bay, Madison, and Chicago are all within easy driving distance.In addition, the incredible northern woods of Wisconsin, picturesque Door County, and the Wisconsin Dells are but a short drive away, and there are ample opportunities in the area for hiking, biking, and numerous other outdoor and water activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision or related field from a CACREP-accredited program (ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 2026)

  • Relevant counseling experience in K-12 settings

  • Familiar with and trained in the ASCA (American School Counselor Association) national model

  • Demonstrated commitment to multicultural counseling and social justice

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness

  • Experience providing clinical supervision in an academic setting

  • Administrative experience and program development skills

  • Interest in program development and program coordination

  • Membership and involvement in professional organizations such as ACA, ASCA, ACES and/or state counseling organizations

  • Strong scholarly record, including publishing in peer reviewed journals, book chapters, and presentations

  • Knowledge of CACREP accreditation process

  • Experience advising graduate students
