Role & Responsibilities:
- Client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN supporting development of a diverse set of mission critical products including ground-based systems, airborne systems, weapon systems integration, armament equipment, launchers, suspension and release equipment, cutting edge system integrations, radar systems, cockpit displays, avionics and more.
- Our Indianapolis facility also supports a variety of other product lines serving multiple Department of Defense (DoD) customers providing the opportunity to work on a diverse set of programs and roles supporting the continued advancement of your career and opportunity for rapid career advancement.
- The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design of new products and test hardware, as well as the improvement of existing products.
- The engineer will utilize their mechanical engineering expertise during the proposal and concept generation phase, product development, production, and qualification testing phases of new product design.
- The engineer will have the opportunity to design creative solutions that meet product requirements.
- The engineer shall be proficient with 3D modeling and drafting, and will be hands-on supporting production, integration, and testing.
- The engineer will develop solutions which leverage commercial off the shelf (COTS) products paired with custom hardware.
- The engineer must be a resourceful researcher engaging vendors, manufacturers, and SME's regarding design decisions.
- The engineer will take part in design reviews at both part, subsystem and system level including Peer Reviews, DFMAs, PDRs, and CDRs.
- The engineer will provide leadership on mechanical designs and provide mentorship to junior engineers, as well as work closely with systems, electrical, test, and production engineers.
- In addition to their technical skills, the ideal candidate leverages strong verbal and written communication to adapt to a wide variety of high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism and courtesy.

Required Skills:
- Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance.
- Ability to work onsite at our Indianapolis, Indiana facility with an Integrated Product Team being hands on with hardware.
- A minimum of 5 years professional work experience required.
- Experience in the design, integration, or testing of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Competent using 3-D CAD Modeling Tools (CREO preferred).
- Working knowledge of data management systems (Windchill preferred).
- Proficient in application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, (ASME Y14.5 standards).
- Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to be adaptable to changing priorities and assignments.
- Performing trade studies.
- Must be a self-starter, a quick learner, and be able to function in a dynamic environment, and have good time management skills.
- Must have strong teaming skills, and good communication skills.
- Demonstrated Creative thinking and problem solving.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes including traditional CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assemblies, water jet, laser, welding, EDM, additive manufacturing, etc.
- Understanding of aerospace materials and coatings.
