Organizational Unit Overview
The Division of Student Affairs comprises over 30 departments, each responsible for providing various student support, services, and educational programs accessible to the university community. Job Duties
The Sr. Assistant Director of Well-Being will serve as a well-being content expert and provide mid-level management and programming for an innovative, dynamic, and collaborative effort to promote a culture of well-being. This position will be responsible for continuing the growth, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive health & well-being programs. The Sr. Assistant Director will work closely with colleagues to market and evaluate well-being experiences and programs. This position will provide direct supervision to two (2) full-time coordinators of well-being, one specifically dedicated to recovery programs, and multiple part-time student well-being coaches. This position will also indirectly supervise one (1) graduate assistant and numerous part-time student well-being ambassadors. The Sr. Assistant Director of Well-Being position reports to the Director of Well-Being.
Essential Job Functions
Talent Management - 60%

  • Supervise, evaluate, and develop two full-time coordinators, one graduate assistant, and multiple part-time student employees and interns.
  • Recommend and oversee contracted well-being coaches and specialized personnel as needed.
  • Create and implement an employee experience strategy that supports professional growth, education opportunities, and strengths-based learning.
  • Coach and support career growth through education opportunities and strengths-based learning.
  • Foster a positive workplace culture through recognition, support, and appreciation of contributions.
  • Role model a management style that promotes well-being and self-care


Program Management - 20%

  • Provide mid-level management, marketing, and evaluation of a comprehensive well-being program aligned with the five essential elements of well-being.
  • Oversee delivery of public health content and initiatives, including alcohol & other drugs, mental health & stress management, sexual health & healthy relationships, nutrition & body image, and overall well-being.
  • Manage assigned operational, revenue, and grant budgets; pursue and administer grant opportunities as needed.
  • Assess and evaluate programs using KPIs and both quantitative and qualitative data; prepare quarterly and annual reports with recommendations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert by creating educational content, supporting colleagues, and contributing to professional development and scholarly work.

Relationship Building - 20%

  • Build and sustain strong relationships with students, staff, faculty, and community partners to advance a culture of well-being.
  • Represent CRW and ECU on committees, task forces, and community coalitions, ensuring alignment and collaboration on health-related priorities.
  • Partner with academic units, student organizations, and external agencies to expand the reach and impact of well-being initiatives.
  • Create opportunities for connection through intentional engagement and regular communication with stakeholders.

Minimum Education/Experience

  • Master's degree required; or Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Integrated Well-Being, or related field with 2 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with fiscal management, mentoring, and staff development.
  • Experience in the delivery of holistic well-being education within higher education and surrounding communities.
  • Current American Red Cross, CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Proven ability to write, speak, and present well-being content with clear, effective communication skills.
  • Three years of experience with well-being program planning and implementation, including supervision of full-time personnel.
  • Exceptional leadership and member experience skills.
