About The Enterprise Innovation Institute
The Enterprise Innovation Institute is Georgia Tech's economic development arm, comprised of more than a dozen programs. It's the largest and most comprehensive university-based program of its kind in the United States. Its core focus areas include entrepreneurship and startup development, business and industry growth, ecosystem development, and international outreach.

EI2 Global/Innovation Ecosystems unit helps governments, communities, foundations, entrepreneurs, and small businesses foster value creation by applying innovative ideas, technology, and policy to initiatives focused on economic growth. Areas of expertise include business incubation and commercialization, strategic planning, and economic sustainability. Georgia Tech Extension Professionals are research personnel assigned to fulfill the extension service mission of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond. This mission includes, but is not limited to, technology-based economic development, technology commercialization and deployment, entrepreneurship, start-up company incubation, and business/industry outreach. Extension Professionals also provide educational programs for business and industry in support of these missions through facilitating and fostering increased industrial engagement and sponsorship of applied research activities at Georgia Tech.

Location

The primary office location in the Atlanta area. However, incumbent in this position may be expected to travel state-wide and remain flexible to on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client schedules and/or project requirements). Travel can/may consist of local, in-state, and some out-of-state travel.

Job Summary

Serving within the Research Faculty of the Institute, this position directly supports the extension, service, and economic development missions of Georgia Tech to the State of Georgia and beyond. Primarily this position serves within the Global division of the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2). Program Managers in this role are responsible for initiating, conducting, and reporting on projects that promote local, state, regional, national, and international economic development. This includes, but is not limited to, working with leaders/officials in public and private enterprises, non-profits, governments, and other related economic development organizations. Program Managers are expected to conduct research, perform assessments, and provide technical assistance that helps create an attractive business climate. Incumbents in this role must be able to report measurable outcomes, as needed, through metric reporting systems required by federal, state, municipal, and/or private sponsors.

Responsibilities

  • Project initiation, execution, and delivery. In general, this includes, but is not limited to: evaluating client needs, facilitating groups for identifying/solving problems, collaborating with appropriate constituents to meet project objectives/requirements, assigning and/or performing project follow-up activities, and presenting project findings/recommendations.
  • Prepare and deliver Evidence-Based Entrepreneurship training programs.
  • Develop and pilot programs for entrepreneurs, driven by a curiosity to explore new and impactful initiatives.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and engage stakeholders in areas aligned with Institute research and education initiatives. Promote/facilitate interactions that increase program investments/sponsorships.
  • Leverage Institute resources and use knowledge of industry research environments to tailor partnership models that drive a culture of open innovation and enterprise transformation.
  • Participate in professional development activities (self-study and/or formal classes).
  • Perform organizational administrative tasks, and other related duties, as assigned.
  • Travel is required.
Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in management, economics, economic development, city and regional planning, public policy, public administration, business administration or related/relevant field.

Rank In Research Extension Professional II

  • A Master's degree in management, economics, economic development, city and regional planning, public policy, public administration, business administration or related/relevant field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree in management, economics, economic development, city and regional planning, public policy, public administration, business administration or related/relevant field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree management, economics, economic development, city and regional planning, public policy, public administration, business administration or related/relevant field.

Rank In Sr. Extension Professional

  • A Master's degree in management, economics, economic development, city and regional planning, public policy, public administration, business administration or related/relevant field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree in management, economics, economic development, city and regional planning, public policy, public administration, business administration or related/relevant field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in management, economics, economic development, city and regional planning, public policy, public administration, business administration or related/relevant field and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred Education: Master's Degree in management, economics, economic development, city and regional planning, public policy, public administration or related/relevant field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Preferred Work Experience: Ten years job-related work experience.
  • Preferred Skills: Experience in working with underserved population; Experience with entrepreneurship programs; Proven track record in serving customers successfully; Prefer applicants with multi-lingual abilities.
  • Preferred applicant backgrounds include: Experience in consultative service delivery and/or prior experience working in a higher education environment.
